2003 Caterham

With reluctance, sadly selling my lovely 7 due to a new house move. Car is located in Cologne, Germany at the moment but would consider bring across to the UK to sell.

History

Factory built in 2003, and bought in 2011 from Caterham South with 10k miles on the clock with a full Caterham service history. The car was originally registered on UK plates when I lived in the UK but was imported into Germany in 2012 when I moved here permanently. Car has green “Umweltplakete” for emissions allowing it into all German city centers.

Power train / chassis

The car has the 1.8VVC Rover K-series engine with 160bhp and a 6-speed transmission and is on the larger SV chassis.

Suspension is the wide-track front suspension, and the dedion rear suspension, along with a Limited Slip Differential (LSD).

The car has the Caterham big brake kit, and recently had Mintex pads changed on the rear. Fronts still have plenty of wear on them.

Cooling system is now improved and has new blue silicone hoses, heater and the Apollo wet sump.

The car has a Battery Master Switch to preserve battery life and add additional security.

15inch Wheels with Avon CR500s and have around 5mm of thread on all 4 tyres.

Interior

Car has leather seats, Heater, 4 point lukes harness, FIA track day roll bar, Push Button start, Quick Release Momo removable steering wheel, and has an Autocom audio system installed complete with kenwood walkie PPT interface, and Bluetooth for your devices .

Under the LHS dash is a 12v socket installed and the drivers side is lowered for taller drivers.

Exterior

The colour is the unusual Mercedes Labrador green, with the black pack, which includes black headlamps, and black windscreen.

Weather kit includes a full-hood, half-hood and a Tonneau cover.

Car will get a brand new heated windscreen (on order now) due to stone chip during my recent tour around Austria.

A few stone chips on the nose cone, sides and on right rear wing but other than that very good condition.

Upgrades

The car is fairly standard but a few things have been upgraded to improve the car.

First modification was to improve the visibility at the back with a CBS 48-Led 3rd brake light, and to replace the unreliable standard Caterham Oil pressure gauge with a Mechanical one for better reliability, along with a Water / Oil temperature switch.

Mechanical:

The service has either been done by myself or by the German Caterham dealer Hoffmann & Rink. The car has had regular oil, oil filter and air filter changes yearly since owning the car.

November 2013 a new clutch slave cylinder and a brake fluid change, along with a new suspension bush.

In April 2014 had a 24k service done, including cooling system modification with new blue silicone hoses and Apollo hoses, as the old ones were looking worn and replaced before as part of my preventative maintenance.

Part of the coolant mod included new routing, replacing water pump, 82c thermostat and a fresh coolant change. While changing the coolant system, the cambelt was replaced for prevention maintenance.

New mintex pads on the rear, new fuel hoses, fuel filter and fuel sender gasket along with replacing the rose bearings on the watts linkage. Car had new spark plugs, air filter, and another oil / filter change.

The car is regularly used during the late spring to autumn months and has been all around Europe in the 3 years I have had the car, with no problems. Just back from 2500 mile trip with no issues and the car being very reliable.

This year the cooling system was improved during a service to install the K-series coolant modification.

Car had its TüV (MOT) done in May 2014 and is valid for 2 years, due 2016. Car is located in Cologne, Germany at the moment.
