5. GENERAL DESCRIPTION
You would be forgiven for thinking my Turbo had done 30k due to its remarkable condition throughout. I viewed several examples before I bought "GPO" and this car outshone all others by miles despite their lower mileage.
The paintwork is Seal Grey in flawless condition, which is so much nicer and modern-looking than dated old arctic silver (yawn). Hardly a stone chip, like oil. Recently professionally washed, detailed, waxed and clay-barred. Truly gorgeous.
Interior in very good condition with black leather, chrono-pack and white dials. Some very minor scuffing commensurate with age on the back of the hard-shell sports seats. No ugly ruffled leather either. Rear parcel shelf / seats have clearly never been used. The heater and air con work perfectly. Generally a lovely place to be! The manual gearbox is excellent, purposeful gearing like silk with a very light clutch.
All four wheels are in very good repair with no kerbing or scratches. Two new tyres on the front as of 12 December and rears have 4-5mm tread on inner. Two of the "turbo caps" (fronts) have minor flaking so a new set will be included in the sale bought from 911virgin this week. The brake discs and pads have roughly 60% life left.
6. MILEAGE
I know 'Porsche People' get very sensitive about mileage. I have been guilty of this in the past myself this being my 5th 911. Please don't let it put you off - at the risk of stating the obvious this is not a Carrera engine, but the GT1 derived Mezger that eats miles for breakfast. Needless to say 85k over 13 years on this engine is nothing at all; American forums boast 200k plus miles on a single clutch (and this one had a new clutch in the last 10,000). If you want a sub 50k manual turbo that does not have a vile interior you would do well to pay less than £33,000 plus and prices are rising steadily for good reason. That said, with cars such as these the service history and condition at point of sale should be the determining factor.
7. HI RES PHOTOGRAPHS
I have taken a further 40 unedited hi-res photos this morning (30.12.14) of the interior and wheels for various prospective buyers who have contacted me. These can be emailed via Google Drive upon request or I can send you a photobucket link. Please email me if you want the link.
8. AND FINALLY...
I am confident you wont find another example in this condition which is the "full package" having been recently checked in minute detail.
Sure, you can buy other cheaper turbos, but they are cheaper for a reason - beware of the stick-on "S" - and the advert that says "best in the country".
I am only selling to fund the purchase of my ultimate dream sports car (aircooled 911). I am therefore motivated to sell and open to offers. However, before you make that offer please do a quick search to see how many flawless, unmolested, seal grey, manual turbos, with a warranty, a health report AND that have just been serviced there are for sale....."You get what you pay for".
As of 15 December 2014, I have spent £1534.00 sorting out anything that was required. No corners have been cut with this car, it has been well cared for all its life and it shows. I am confident as I can be that I have described my car in the best detail possible.
In summary this is a fantastic specimen of the 911 Turbo- a superb condition, bomb-proof, entirely reliable super car; either subtle and comfortable or utterly bonkers depending on your whim. Ready to go and definitely one of the most poised and exciting cars you will ever drive. (See Phil Raby's top ten reasons to own a 996 Turbo).
POLITE NOTICE: no tyre kickers, traders, test pilots, or canvassers - Only genuine enquiries please. No offers will be accepted until the vehicle has been viewed, in person.
Cheers
