The Contemporary is regarded by many as the finest of all Cobra recreations due to it's authentic round-tube chassis & highly accurate bodywork with the highest quality engineering. It's origins can be traced back to 1978 when Peter Bayer started the company in New York state. The UK agent being Speed Specialties in south London.

This car was built circa 2000 by it's 1 owner (in conjunction with Jim Blackburn of Speed Specialties). Fitted with Ford 428 big block V8 re-built with Edelbrock ally heads and inlet manifold, solid lifters, Crane cam, lightened steel flywheel & bell housing. Anion race sump, hi capacity oil pump. Holley 750 double pumper carb. 427 manifolds & side pipes. Re-built 4 speed top loader gearbox with Hurst shifter. Re-built Salisbury limited slip diff., mounted in billet alloy carrier with Watts linkeage. Willwood brake discs & calipers, outboard rear discs, brake bias control. AVO shox., ally radiator with twin original fans plus extra fan on inside of rad. Oil cooler.

Finished in metallic Guardsmans blue with contrasting Wimbledon white Le Mans stripes. Riveted bonnet scoop. Full luxury black leather interior as original. TRS racing harness belts. Smith's instruments. Hoop roll bar with rear facing third leg. Original style woodrim steering wheel. Tonneau cover. Centre lock Hallibrand alloy wheels with BF Goodrich tyres, 305/50 R15 rear and 245/50 R15 front.

As you can see, this car has been fastidiously built by it's engineer owner regardless of cost. It has a date of origin on the V5 log book of 1965 so should be able to enter most countries as a historic tax free vehicle. These cars do not come up for sale very often and rarely have the massive spec. that this car benefits from. We are expecting a lot of overseas interest so early viewing is essential. Build history file and original construction manual included.
