Description
Black Mazda MPS Aero 2.3 Turbo 2007
Reduced as I could do with selling before my insurance renewal at the end of January - updated pictures
Desirable AERO version (larger rear spoiler, sports (e36 M3 style) electric mirrors and Eibach springs (OEM but improvement on non AERO models)
Very fast car - I've had hot hatches almost 20 years and nothing comes close to this for outright speed!)
66600 miles which will rise slightly as I do use it to commute (8 miles a day though!) and Christmas travels
2 previous owners. MOT July 2016. No tax as per new rules. FSH - part digital/part receipts etc. MPS Owners' Club car, can be vouched for unlike many that are available. Enthusiast owned - not any old poorly maintained crap being sold on with issues
New VVT actuator (improved Mk2 version) and timing chain with tensioners (bought from New Age Auto Parts - check the forum) so this has been done properly - when I got the car it needed doing as it had been done, but with the old style VVT actuator that had started to get noisy again - receipts to prove. Done PROPERLY so peace of mind for owner, it's a big deal!
While it was being stripped I had my mechanic perform a compression test to make sure all was ok with the internals and that came back all ok with spot on compression in all 4. Peace of mind there too.
Fresh set of spark plugs and oil change.
New rear brake discs and pads - all the above carried out at the cost of £1,000.00 very recently
Goodyear Eagle F1 tyres all around with good tread and even wear - full wheel alignment carried out
New ARB front D bushes
No knocks or rattles or any issues with turbo. This car is a solid base to start mapping or keep as a daily. Holds boost, pulls extremely well.
Recently rolling roaded at 272 BHP with smooth power and torque curves as you'd want to see
Only mods are - K&N Typhoon induction kit, Corksport TIP (turbo inlet pipe) and a 2nd decat pipe (just for sound and no EML issues). Dash mounted gauges, uprated rear engine mount and a short shift kit. Heko wind deflectors and clear rear fog light clusters.
Has NOT been mapped - I was going to do this with a COBB access port in time and get a HPFP to compliment. It's crucial that these are mapped correctly so you can rest assured that this hasn't been cowboy mapped. Easy to have mapped once you buy a COBB AP - I can advise
Despite what you may read about poor MPG, I've just done 115 miles in it over Christmas and that was on about £25 worth of super unleaded so no worse than other cars I've had, shows how good this one has been looked after. Always ran on 98+ RON fuel.
LSD gearbox no whines or issues
2 keys (both working) and all the handbooks, etc
BOSE stereo which sounds amazing! Auto lights, remote locking etc etc
Genuine reason for sale - it's a very fast car but I don't get the opportunity to use it properly with a 4 mile commute into Manchester. Ideally I'd sell and buy a cheap commuter until summer.
I would consider a part ex with a cheaper car such as an A4 estate/BMW 330ci or tourer, or similar.Got a soft spot for fn2 type r civics and golf r32's too so may consider those but could really do with freeing up some cash
Only issue is that there is a tiny part of surface rust on the tailgate where water seems to settle and it's got under the paint. No bubbling just surface rust. Only the boost gauge is wired up at the moment (so oil pressure and temp need wiring in). And the passenger wing mirror came loose so is secured using some black tape but works fine still (pictures on request)
Viewings welcome - Stockport near Manchester
This is a great car and a great example of an MPS - this needs no work doing to it unlike most (VVT/chain/turbo seals/tyres/bushes). If you're after an MPS, this is definitely worth a look
