The styling may have been controversial when it was launched but, as it was based on the mark 4 Fiesta platform and developed under the watchful eye of the late and much-missed Richard Parry-Jones, Ford’s Ka was one of those cars that handled much better than it had any right to.

Powered by a venerable 1.3 litre engine that could trace its roots back to the fifties, it was no speed machine but with a low insurance rating it became a first car for many with one eye on decent driving dynamics and, as such, holds a special place in the hearts of PHers of the right age.

Whether you want to relive your youth but without any restoration headaches or just to experience the joy of Ford’s smallest model of the noughties in a showroom-fresh state, then what we have here must surely be an almost unique opportunity.

This example is a product of the inverse-PH mindset: a car that was owned for the majority of its life by someone who hated driving. As such, it reportedly only went to Asda and back up to 2023 and, as a result, has covered just 755 miles. Not per year, but in total. Its condition would suggest that it’s been kept indoors, too, and so it’s as close to a new Ka as you’re likely to find.

With stickers, numberplates and a tax disc holder bearing the name of the supplying dealer, such originality surely makes it a prime candidate for show awards in its current state. As it’s new enough to be driven without charge in clean air zones across the country, it could be the ultimate modern classic city car but equally it could make a great basis for an entry into the popular EnduroKA race series.

Wherever it goes from here, perhaps we should be grateful that not everyone shares our passion for driving, leaving as it does the opportunity to find such delights as this Ka.

𝗛𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗼𝗰𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

● The purple cloth seats are in excellent condition with hardly any signs of use and the interior has even reportedly kept its “new car smell”

● The carpet, headlining and door cards are immaculate and there is a set of ‘Ka’ branded floor mats

● The original integrated Ford radio-cassette player is present as are the supplying dealer stickers and a branded tax disc holder

● An unmarked parcel shelf sits atop an immaculate boot area

● In summary, it’s the best condition Ka interior you’re likely to see at this point

𝗘𝘅𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿

● The distinctive Ford “New Edge” design is rendered here in solid Midnight Blue paint with grey plastic bumpers front and rear

● Early examples of the Ka are typically looking their age at this stage but remarkably, there are no marks on either the paintwork or the bumpers

● The underside also looks incredibly clean and corrosion-free

● Unmarked original wheeltrims and numberplates from the supplying dealer complete the ‘as new’ look although, while the tyres have plenty of tread, there are likely best replaced due to their age if the intention is to take the car on the road

● Overall, it really is a museum-grade car

Although a popular car in its time, there surely can’t be many examples of the Ka left that have led such a sheltered life as this one. Essentially as-new inside and out and mechanically hardly used, it’s a time-warp modern classic that we think will be the star of the show wherever it goes.
