𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄
There is a lurking brutality to the CL63 AMG. It has the aura of a heavily maned lion - ostensibly sleepy and dormant, right up until the second it decides to roar into life and tear through a herd of antelope. The swollen arches, the little hints of menace given by the exterior AMG carbon package (a near £3,000 option on its own), that lovely pillarless design, the swooping swage lines and the sinisterly modest burble of the V8 at idle merely hint at the potential of this fabulous car.
Offering a near perfect blend of luxurious grand touring capability and bombastic muscle car performance, it offers a driving experience for all occasions. It will happily tootle around town, gently rumbling away, almost unnoticeable amongst the sea of EV hums. Similarly, should you wish to whisk your way to Cormayeur or Villefranche-Sur-Mer for the weekend, in hushed comfort and splendour, then the CL63 will happily oblige and you’ll arrive feeling as fresh as the proverbial daisy. Only posher. From heated and ventilated massage seats to opulent leather and a wonderful surround sound system, it has all the toys and trinkets one could possibly need to traverse continents with ease.
However, should you decide that, just for a moment and in an entirely legal and suitable setting of course, you feel like being a bit of a hoodlum, then the CL63 will not only assist, it will positively egg you on. At the heart of this latent hooliganism is that thumping great 5.5-litre V8 (yes, we know the badge is a lie, but honestly who cares). With a brace of turbos pushing dense, cool air into it, the result is 536hp and 590lb-ft. Which would certainly qualify as “enough” and may even run into the realms of “crikey, that’s really quite a lot”.
As you’d imagine, performance is brutal and seemingly endless. The 0-60mph charge is over and done with in under 4.5 seconds and only the limiter prevents the CL63 from breaching 155mph (delimited it will run on to almost 190mph). Yet this savagery is carefully meted out and contained in most driving condition, making it a superb choice for the enthusiast who loves to cruise in opulent style, but enjoys knowing that there’s a Saturn V rocket ready to be deployed at the merest tremor of the right foot.

𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘆
Presented here in fine condition, with a truly epic list of toys and options, twinned to a desirable specification, this CL63 would happily grace any garage. It’s one of those “only car you ever need” machines, and is actually quite understated as long as you don’t press the loud peal too much.
Beautifully appointed, bombastically powerful and endlessly capable with a fine history and below average mileage, there are many reasons to want to add this magnificent coupe to your fleet. Although we suspect that once you’ve heard that V8 at full bellow, that will be the only reason you need…
