𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄
Produced as a clean sheet design to spearhead one of the many relaunches of Alfa Romeo and developed under a veil of secrecy, the Giulia sprang almost out of nowhere when it was launched in 2016.
Here, for the first time in decades, was an Alfa Romeo that didn’t start from someone else’s platform and one that acquitted itself very well in comparison with contemporary rivals. Oh, and did we mention that it looks gorgeous? The 159 was a hard act to follow in that regard but the Giulia managed it with aplomb and was a whole lot lighter than both its predecessor and main competitors to boot.
The limelight-grabbing QV was obviously the star of the show but for keen drivers, the Veloce is arguably a better option for an everyday car, being both considerably less expensive to buy and with much lower running costs, but still with a decent turn of speed.
This example is finished in a classic Alfa shade of red and is being sold by an Alfa enthusiast who has moved on to his next one. With a full main dealer history and, a few kerb marks on the wheels aside, in beautiful condition, it would make a great alternative to the usual German suspects.

𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿
• The cabin of the Giulia can best be summed up as stylish simplicity; there’s no “configurable ambient lighting” or other such fripperies to distract from the driving experience but there’s all the tech you need and nothing more, presented in a way that references Alfas of old, and is well screwed together
• This car sports the facelifted interior which brings with it a leather covered multi-function steering wheel, leather covered gear knob, and touch screen infotainment
• The gear shift paddles are a delight, mounted to the steering column rather than the wheel as is often the case and are usefully long and nicely tactile in operation
• Front sports seats have the Alfa logo embossed in the headrests and are electrically adjustable, with memory for the driver’s seat
• The owner describes the condition of the interior as “immaculate” and, aside from a tiny amount of wear to the driver’s seat bolsters, there’s little to argue with there
• In terms of the kit, there’s electric windows, climate control, cruise control, Apple Carplay and Android Auto, USB Type A and C sockets, aux-in and wireless charging, Bluetooth phone integration – basically, it’s all there
• The boot is very clean and tidy and houses a warning triangle and the usual mousse kit under the floor
• In all, it’s a well-executed cabin design that’s largely as new, in tribute to the obvious care with which its owners have treated it
𝗘𝘅𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿
• The exterior design of the Giulia has changed very little during the time since it was first release and it’s easy to see why as it still looks absolutely cracking
• Alfa Rosso red paint adorns this car and aside from a few minor marks, it’s in excellent condition which must be at least in part due to the GardX protection which was applied when the owner acquired the car last February
• The panels look to be straight and undamaged
• Gorgeous Alfa Romeo alloy wheels barely conceal the red painted brake callipers but are obviously not immune to kerbing as each one shows some marks; a refurb could quickly sort this out if desired
• The wheels are fitted with Goodyear Eagle Assymetric 3 tyres all round, with their condition described by the owner as one new, one very good and two good
• Underneath, everything looks very clean
• Overall, it’s definitely one of those glance-over-the-shoulder-as-you-walk-away cars, which should make its next owner very proud
𝗠𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹
• 1995cc turbocharged inline 4-cylinder engine rated at 276hp
• 8 speed automatic gearbox
• Rear wheel drive
• Brembo brakes
• Full main dealer history should mean that it drives just as it should
𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘆
The old saying that you can’t be a petrolhead unless you’ve owned an Alfa Romeo was dreamed up when ownership meant a level of… dedication. Modern Alfas have been largely successful in making it easier to run an example of the iconic brand while also maintaining a level of emotion.
This Giulia Veloce similarly walks the line between passion and practicality and delivers on both fronts. It looks gorgeous, is in great condition, goes well and won’t cost the Earth to run. Truly a head and heart car.
