Everyone has to own a ‘pony car’ at some point in their life — there’s no point fighting it — so it might as well be a Mustang. And with five litres of American-bred V8 power available at the twitch of your right foot, it’s going to put a smile on your face whenever you get in, turn the key and hear that unmistakable eight-pot burble.

This ‘stang comes with the added appeal of open-air motoring, making it the perfect car to enjoy the coming Summer months. And if the fickleness of the British weather does its usual thing, there’s always the snug fabric roof to be deployed.

Of course, the car features American idiosyncrasies: the steering wheel is on the wrong side, the rear indicators are the wrong colour, and somehow they’ve forgotten to fit a clutch pedal. But you can forgive them these mistakes when you plant your foot and hear that V8 churning out 406 horsepower — a respectable figure for a big ol’American beast.

𝗛𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗼𝗰𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

• Left-hand drive import • First registered in the UK in March 2015 • MOT valid until February 2025 • There is a letter from HMRC on file stating that the VAT and import duty have been correctly accounted for • Invoices for parts fitted to the car in Florida • MOT and servicing invoices each year from 2018 to 2023, all from the same garage • No current MOT advisories • Only 56,000 miles recorded • Two sets of keys

𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿

• Black and silver interior colours • Overall, the upholstery, plastic trim and carpets all remain in very good condition • Left-hand drive steering position • Retro style speedometer and tachometer • Speeds marked in both mph and km/h • The sturdy rubber floor mats feature the distinctive Mustang logo • The upholstery generally looks in very good condition, with the rear seats having seen very little use • There is a small scratch to the leather on the driver’s seat • A small area of chipping is present on one of the steering wheel buttons • The driver’s bolster is lightly creased but remains in good condition • Shaker FM stereo with CD player and sizeable speakers in the boot • The spacious boot is carpeted, clean and tidy • A space saver spare wheel is located underneath the boot floor

• Timeless Mustang styling with the benefit of a convertible roof • At first glance the paintwork looks black, however when the sun hits it, it a very similar colour to the interior • The vendor reports that the rear tyres are new and that the front tyres retain plenty of tread • Small patch of kerb damage to the front right wheel • The black fabric roof is clean and tidy, with only a little light creasing. It is not faded or torn • Bonnet scoop, side scoops and rear spoiler all add to the car’s appeal • There are some scuffs to the plastic trim under the front bumper • A few small scratches and scuffs in the paintwork which do not detract from the car’s appearance • The rear indicators were relocated into 2 of the 4 reversing lights with Amber bulbs & fog lights wired into the rear light cluster with having to add any bolt on fog lights, there are led lights in wing mirrors for side indicators • Rear parking sensors • There is a scuff on the rear bumper and a couple of small dings on the driver’s side

• 32-valve 5-litre ‘Coyote’ V8 engine • Rated at 406hp and 390lb/ft of torque • Automatic transmission • Strut brace fitted • A new battery was reportedly fitted last year • The vendor tells us that the car starts easily every time, drives well and has a healthy exhaust note • Underneath, the suspension components exhibit some surface corrosion as usual • There are no mechanical issues reported • No MOT advisories
