𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄
As Spring approaches, many of us start to contemplate the immense pleasure that can be had from open air motoring, not least in a classic car with a proper soundtrack. And if we’re thinking along those lines, then an E30 BMW 325i Convertible fits the bill just beautifully.
Endowed with delightfully crisp styling and a creamy six cylinder soundtrack, the factory convertible was introduced with the 325i model in 1985 and was sold alongside the Baur conversion which preceded it.
With 167hp from its 2.5 litre straight six, there’s enough go to keep up and the sound is one of the all time greats, enhanced here with a period-correct upgrade in the form of a Scorpion stainless steel exhaust
It’s in fabulous condition inside and out, with selective retrimming of the interior keeping it in very good order and the engine bay is so clean you could almost eat your dinner off it. There’s also the rare addition of a factory hard top which would allow you to use it in less clement weather.
Good enough to show and fit enough to be enjoyed, this would be a fantastic way to punt around with the wind in your hair.

• The previous owner of the vehicle was a craftsman for Bentley Motors and decided
to reupholster the front seats, gear knob and steering wheel using Bentley leather.
• That’s not to say that the rear seats are in poor condition; they have a lovely patina, but the fronts look like new
• There’s also a retrimmed steering wheel, and a gear knob and handbrake with M Sport coloured leather and stitching
• A more modern Sony CD player/ radio takes care of entertainment
• There is remote central locking which works with no problem
• The soft top is in good condition but the stitching around one corner of the screen has come slightly undone
• The cars is also supplied with a factory hard top, a rare and expensive factory option when the car was new, which is in great condition externally, though the headlining is slightly sagging. The hard top now is valued at around £2000 alone as the market
dictates.
• In all, though, the cabin is very smart
𝗘𝘅𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿
• As a piece of design, the E30 stands up brilliantly to our eyes today and chopping the roof off does nothing to detract from it
• Externally, this car presents very well indeed with the seller reporting that there are no scratches and no corrosion to be seen to the paintwork or arches
• Refurbished wheels show no kerbing and are fitted with tyres that reportedly have plenty of tread and are the correct size
• Underneath, the condition is generally very clean for a car of this age
• Overall, it looks to be amongst the best examples that you’ll see of a 325i convertible
The private registration is included in the sale

• Under the front-hinged bonnet, the 2494cc straight six nestles in an engine bay that is superbly presented and has the addition of a strut brace
• 167hp might not sound like much these days but with only around 1300kg to propel, it can still keep up with modern traffic
• Five-speed manual gearbox
• Rear wheel drive
• The stainless steel Scorpion exhaust is a period-correct upgrade and reportedly sounds fabulous
• The owner reports that the car starts on the turn of the key, idles beautifully and exhibits no mechanical issues of note
The car was recently fitted with a new slave cylinder

The E30 seems to look better with age and arguably even better as a convertible. If you’re looking for a classic, then with the driver’s choice of 2.5 litre straight six and a manual gearbox, we can think of few finer ways to enjoy the sunnier months, especially in this condition.
