Description

𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 • Only 62k miles recorded • Supercharged 1.6-litre engine • Six-speed manual gearbox • Only one previous keeper • MOT to March 2025 𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄 The original Mini Cooper S of the 1960s added sporting performance to a car which had quickly become both a sales success and a style icon. A bog standard 850cc Mini managed to wheeze its way to somewhere in the region of 30hp, while the 1275cc Cooper S spec engine brought that up to a whopping 75hp. So imagine the look of sheer incredulity you’d get if you told a flat-cap-wearing Mini driver of yesteryear that their Cooper S would be able to spool up to 200hp in 2005. This particular Mini benefits from low mileage — only 62k in 19 years — and we’re told it has always been stored in a garage since the current owner bought the car in 2008. This has kept the bright red paint looking fresh, and the classic chrome trim retains a good shine as well. The John Cooper Works kit included a redesigned supercharger pulley to add a few extra horsepower, as well as a free flowing exhaust, a gas-flowed cylinder head, uprated spark plugs, an improved intake system, more powerful fuel injectors, and a remapped ECU. All this makes the JCW a rorty little car. So if you’re looking for a touch of retro cool which still packs a powerful punch, then this supercharged Mini Cooper will go a long way towards satisfying your driving desires. 𝗛𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗼𝗰𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 • First registered on 14th March 2005 • Current keeper since July 2008 • Only one previous keeper • MOT valid until March 2025 • Only 62,700 miles on the clock • Last inspected in March 2022 • Service record states that inspections and/or oil services were carried out in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2010, 2012, 2015, 2018, 2020, and 2022 • Original book pack and document wallet included • Three keys 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿 • The colour-matched dashboard and door trims are reminiscent of the earlier Mini • As are the retro style toggle switches and large, centrally mounted speedometer • Chrome bezels to the dashboard instruments • Full leather upholstery, with minimal signs of use • Leather steering wheel • The driver’s seat cover shows signs of use but no obvious tears of scuffs • An upgraded stereo unit has been fitted, giving Bluetooth connectivity, DAB digital radio, and a wired microphone • Original floor mats present and in good condition • The seller informs us that all the interior functions work as they should, with no issues reported • Spacious, carpeted hatchback boot to the rear • Original jack still in its bag 𝗘𝘅𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿 • Finished in bright red, the perfect colour for a Mini Cooper, with a contrasting black roof • Chrome trim around the headlamps and front grille add some classic styling • Chrome fuel cap • 17-inch alloy wheels • There are a few scuffs and scratches to the paintwork, as we would expect to see on a car of this age • A scrape on the nearside rear wing, below the filler cap • The red paint has been well preserved, without any noticeable fading, thanks to being garaged by the current owner • There is a small patch of paint damage on the bootlid, which is unobtrusive • Left-hand wing mirror housing is cracked, but the mirror itself is said to be unaffected • Some slight windscreen damage reported on the recent MOT • Some kerb damage to all four alloy wheels • The tyres are said to be in good condition 𝗠𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 • 1,598cc supercharged petrol engine • Six-speed manual gearbox • The battery has reportedly been replaced recently • The only mechanical issue flagged during the last MOT was that he front brake pads are wearing a little thin, an easily serviced item. • The vendor tells us that the car starts first time every time, and that it drives just as well as it did when they bought the car 15 years ago • Engine bay appears to be clean and tidy • Plenty of ‘John Cooper Works’ badges proudly displayed throughout 𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘆 You can’t fail to be won over by a bright red Mini Cooper, can you? There’s something about the combination of their happy retro styling and proper modern petrol-driven performance which sparks that childish excitement inside all of us. And this is certainly a very tempting example, raring to be enjoyed to the full. To arrange a viewing, please request this in the Q&A section.
