Overview

The DB7 is widely praised as being the car that saved Aston Martin, catapulting it from being a company which was wheezing along producing a few cars in fits and bursts, to one which was actually a going concern. Never mind the fact that the basic design was originally meant to be a Jaguar. It earned plenty of praise for its good looks back in the day, and it still wears them well.

This particular DB7 is a very early car — the 211th to be precise, according to the seller — and it comes with a meaty looking history and documentation folder to provide you with hours of bedtime reading. There’s a whole host of service stamps which tell the story of a car which has covered far fewer miles than Aston Martin thought it would by now, still sneaking in under the 50k mark in nearly thirty years.

It remains in very good condition for its age. Even the cream parts of the leather interior look (mostly) very clean, and the Pennine Grey Metallic paintwork only has a few chips of any significance. So if you’re searching for a good-looking sportscar, then this supercharged DB7, with its 330hp on tap should satisfy your performance needs.

  • The two-tone cream and blue Connolly leather interior is generally in very good condition for its nearly thirty years

  • Burr walnut trim on the predominantly leather dashboard and door cards adds a touch of class
  • The veneers remain highly polished

  • The seller tells us that all the instruments, dials and switches work as they should
  • As do all the indicators and warning lights
  • Sony radio/cassette player with ten-disc CD changer fitted in the boot
  • Brushed nameplates on the sills proudly declare that the car was manufactured by ‘Aston Martin Lagonda Limited’
  • The air conditioning system was recharged in April 2021

  • Full set of tools and space-saver spare wheel under boot floor

Exterior

  • Elegant styling makes this an attractive car, even thirty years after it was released

  • The paint remains generally very good, with a few small chips and scratches as you would expect to see on a car of this age
  • Light lenses all appear to be free from cracks or chips

  • Colour-matched bumpers for a modern look

  • Four-speed automatic transmission said to change gear very smoothly
  • Winter and Sport modes can be selected on the transmission
  • The brakes are said to stop the car extremely well
  • Engine bay very clean and tidy
  • There is even a useful diagram showing the routing of the vacuum hoses, printed on the side of the engine bay
  • Battery replaced in August 2022
  • A built-in battery conditioner has reportedly always been used when the car has been stored in its garage
  • The annual service in March 2023 included replacing the drive belt and supercharger belt, replacing inlet manifold gaskets and rectifying a brake fluid leak
  • Work carried out in April 2021 included rebuilding the power steering pump, cleaning and repainting a corroded subframe, rectifying a leak on the differential, replacing the brake pads and fitting central locking

Summary

It looks as though this DB7 has led a quiet life, spent mostly tucked up in its garage plugged into a battery conditioner. And that’s exactly the kind of thing you want to hear when you’re looking at a used sportscar. Not too many miles, plenty of documentation, and presentable paintwork.

So whether you’re planning some continental grand touring in this capable machine, or simply want to enjoy it around the highways and byways of a leafy British shire, there’s a lot of fun to be had in this car.
