Overview
Far be it from us to cast aspersions on perhaps the most iconic name in motoring, but the Mustang has for too long been unappreciated on these shores. Perhaps that’s because Ford resolutely refused to sell us Brits a right-hooker for a little over 50 years.
Then, one fine day in 2016, someone at Ford woke up and said “hey guys, maybe if we give them a right-hand drive car, they might actually like it?” And you know what? We did. Who’d have thought that a well-priced, handsome, highly specced muscle car with a whopping V8 would be popular with a nation full of petrolheads and motorsport fanatics?
Fifty years, Ford. FIFTY YEARS. That’s a lot of sales you missed out on. Still, you’re here now, and that’s what matters. Which brings us neatly to the wonderfully wide and delightfully eye-catching machine in front of us: a Ruby Red 5-litre V8 auto with well below average miles and a great service history.
Oh yes, and an actual Liberty Walk bodykit. And air suspension. And custom 3SDM wheels. And a Remus exhaust that sounds like a particularly angry Thor stubbing his toe at the bottom of a canyon. This, ladies and gentlemen, is what “committing to a bit” looks like, and we approve heartily.
Built by YouTuber Mat Armstrong, if you’re after a car that can upstage, well just about anything this side of a Ferrari F40LM, then this is what you’re seeking (there’s room for more personalisation too – the interior and mechanicals are largely standard). More than a tad unhinged and all the better for it, we think this mean looking ‘Stang is a near perfect slice of modified Americana. Only in Britain. FINALLY.

- We adore the “ground speed” legend on the speedo – it’s a detail that shows the Mustang’s designer’s approached the car with a real sense of humour
- Smart silver trim runs across the dashboard fascia
- The boot space is generous and finished with grey carpeting
- In the boot, you’ll find the AirRex air suspension system, neatly contained in a perspex case

Exterior
- It cannot have escape your attention that this car features a whacking great, and entirely genuine, Liberty Walk bodykit, complete with certificate of authentication
- The bodykit comprises of front and rear bumpers, side skirts, front and rear arches, boot spoiler and debadged rear panel
- The bodykit looks to be in excellent condition, with no damage, cracking, warping or any other issues we could discern
- Metallic Ruby Red paintwork, which shows very well, with just a few minor chips and blemishes, as you’d expect
- All of the body panels appear to be in fine fettle, with neat gaps, clean lines and no evidence of corrosion apparent
- The rest of the exterior trim items, such as rubbers, glass elements and light clusters, all look to be in excellent order, with no issues to report aside from the fuel cap which isn’t quite flush-fitting
- The other aspect of the exterior you must surely have spotted is those massive, custom 3SDM multi-piece alloy wheels – all 20 inches of them
- All four alloy wheels present in fine condition, with a little chipping to some of the (cheap to replace at a tenner each) centre caps, but nothing that would concern us, and nothing that lessens their impact
- The wheels are shod in a set of new tyres (we’re told they have covered c.500 miles), stretched 285/30 ZR20s to the rear and stretched 245/30 ZR20s to the front
- New wheel nuts have also been fitted all round

- The engine bay looks clean and tidy, with no obvious leaks or other issues
- Most recently serviced at a Ford main dealer in Sep 2024, the accompanying health check showed no issues to report
- We’re assured by the vendor that the car drives as it should, with no mechanical issues they’re aware of
Summary
Where to start? If you’re a fan of modified performance machinery – and you’re on this website, so it’s a damn good guess you are – then this surely ticks many boxes. Thumping great V8? Check. Rare and exclusive Liberty Walk bodykit? Check. Air ride and massive custom wheels? Check, and check.
We think it’s a great looking machine, but what really appeals is not just the lower than average miles, excellent overall condition and good service record (although they’re very nice). No, we love the fact that the interior and mechanicals have largely been left as they were from the factory. So you can enjoy this mildly deranged monster as it is, you could even daily it without too much trouble.
Or, and this is where we get really excited, you could take it to the next level and give it an interior and powertrain as bonkers as that magnificent LW bodykit. The choice, dear reader, is yours. But only if you buy it…
