Overview
After stunning the automotive world with the ground-breaking fashion icon that was the original TT, the Mk2 really was the definition of a tricky second album for Audi. Nevertheless, they somehow managed to significantly improve on almost every single area of the car, creating something that could now genuinely be considered a sporting car and a stylish alternative to a “normal” hot-hatch.
The TT still makes an awfully good case for itself too. Fine handling, punchy turbo power for extracting maximum fun from your average B-road blast, rock-solid build quality, excellent styling, a good dose of practicality and all the kit you could reasonably want. If you’re looking for a fun, reliable daily that will put a grin on your chops in the twisties and polish up nicely for your local ‘cars and coffee’, then it’s ideal.
This is a great example of the marque too, clearly having been subtly but attractively specified when new and well maintained ever since. We love the fact that it’s presented entirely in factory specification, with no modifications too. With below average mileage and a fine service record, we think this would proudly grace anyone’s garage.
The second generation TT is a genuinely underrated gem of a car – the sort of machine that you rapidly fall deeply in love with and can easily become ‘all the car you ever need’. Why not try it for yourself?

- The boot is a good size, especially when the rear bench is folded down, making the TT a very practical touring coupe
- Underneath the boot carpet, the original toolkit is present and correct
Exterior
- 69% aluminium and 31% steel construction, to lower overall weight and offer better weight distribution
- Silver paintwork is in good condition for the age, with a few chips and light scratches, but nothing that would concern us
- All of the bodywork looks neat and tidy, with no notable damage or corrosion
- The body panels are evenly gapped and well aligned
- Similarly, the external trim and badging all presents very nicely indeed, with nothing cracked, damaged or showing significant UV wear
- We noted a minor scuff to the lower off-side corner of the front bumper, a couple of touched in paint chips on the driver’s door edge and some very small corrosion bubbles on the leading edge of the passenger door
- Electrically-operated rear wing, which deploys automatically at 75mph
- A new high-level centre brake light was fitted in December 2021
- The light lenses all look to be good order, with no cracks or damage, other than a couple of small scratches to the rear off-side light
- We love that the car is fitted with its original 5-spoke, 18-inch alloy wheels – they present extremely well, with a clean silver finish and no evidence of kerbing or lacquer peel that we could see
- All four tyres look to be in good condition and have plenty of tread, with the vendor reporting that the front tyres (Bridgestones) have only covered about 500 miles

- The engine bay is nice and clean, with no evidence on show of leaks or any other issues
- The service record shows the car has been regularly maintained by main dealers and specialists, while the recent MOT shows no advisories
- New rear brake discs and pads were fitted in September 2022 @ 63,493 miles
- A new nearside front anti-roll bar link and strut top mount were fitted in November 2023
- We’re assured by the vendor that the car starts, drives and stops just as it should, with no mechanical issues reported
Summary
It’s incredibly hard reinventing a legend, but with the Mk2 TT, Audi really did pull off a blinder. There’s no denying that this is a very handsome car, and with that potent turbocharged powerplant, there’s more than enough grunt to make even the most mundane commute a little bit special.
If you need something reliable and practical for daily duties, but you’d prefer it to have a generous measure of Teutonic magic, then we reckon you can’t go far wrong with this. It looks to have been very well maintained, the specification is great and we think that, unlike many cars, silver suits the TT perfectly.
We have a feeling this is one of those cars that will get under your skin, purely by way of doing lots of things very well indeed, all while looking fabulous and punching well above its weight. Difficult second album? Nah. This is Audi’s “Nevermind”...
