Overview

The debut of Audi’s RS5 model took place in 2010, when the B8-platform RS5 was unveiled to the world in both coupe and cabriolet form at the Geneva Motor Show. Featuring a 4.2-litre fuel-injected V8 engine, the engine in the B8 RS5 was in fact ⅘ of the V10 found in the first-generation R8, as opposed to a reworked V8 from the previous-generation RS4.

Blending GT usability with a hefty whack of power thanks to the 444bhp / 317 lb-ft of torque on offer underneath the driver’s right foot, the RS5 quickly found its niche amongst performance coupes and sedans of the era, taking the fight to the likes of BMW and AMG.

This particular example is finished in arguably the best colour for the RS5 coupe - Sepang Blue - and presents in very good condition for its age, making it a tantalising prospect for anyone looking for a high-performance daily driver that won’t leave you feeling like a human pretzel after a long-distance drive.

Interior

  • The cabin of this RS5 presents in very good condition overall, and is from what many consider to be Audi’s ‘golden era’ of interior design
  • Whilst there are a few small scratches and scuffs to note, the high-traffic areas and touchpoints look to be in good condition
  • Both front seats exhibit some scuffs and wear to the outer bolsters, most notably on the driver’s seat
  • The driver’s side upper dash vent grille is missing
  • The carpets and over-mats would benefit from a thorough valet
  • In the rear, both seats present well, whilst the soft-touch plastic between the seats exhibits a few noticeable scratches and scuffs
  • The seller tells us that all systems and switches are working as they should be

Exterior

  • Finished in arguably the best colour for the RS5 - Sepang Blue - the bodywork and paint are in very good condition for a car of this age and mileage
  • We can see no signs of any impact damage or accident damage, and no accidents have been reported by the seller
  • There is a small pin dent on the nearside rear wing
  • The front end, headlights and mirror caps exhibit a level of stone chips and gravel rash commensurate with the car’s age and mileage
  • There are a few larger chips and blemishes visible on the lower edge of the front bumper
  • The offside rear wing and driver’s door have a number of blemishes noted, specifically around the handle and aft of the driver’s door
  • All four wheels are in good condition, having been refurbished in recent years, though there are a handful of small marks to be seen
  • The seller tells us that there is a pair of Michelin PS4 tyres on the front with only around 1,000 miles covered and Pirelli P-Zero tyres on the back which are just 12 months and 4,000 miles old
  • At the rear, the light clusters are in good condition with no cracks or damage
  • There is a deep gouge / scratch noted in the centre of the rear bumper, above the diffuser ‘grille’

Mechanical

  • 4.2-litre FSI naturally aspirated V8 engine
  • 7-speed S-Tronic gearbox
  • Quattro all-wheel-drive system
  • The brake discs all exhibit some signs of wear, with the rear discs particularly showing some signs of pitting and lipping
  • The vendor has not made us aware of any modifications, meaning this is a rare un-molested example of Audi’s excellent V8 performance coupe
  • Under the bonnet, the engine bay presents very well indeed, with only a small stain visible around the oil filler cap
  • The recent MoT exam noted that all four wishbones are worn and require replacement
  • There are no reported mechanical faults or issues, nor any warning lights on the dash
