Overview
Sometimes we have to adapt in order to survive. And that’s exactly what Porsche realised when they were designing the 996. Back then, the world was shocked by the introduction of the first water-cooled 911. But now we expect nothing less. The unthinkable has become the norm. And it’s easy to forget just how radical this change was considered to be at the time.
But one thing which didn’t change was the 911’s instantly recognisable profile. The shape was subtly updated without departing from its original essence, and its lineage can be easily distinguished going all the way back to the first 911s of the 1960s.
This particular car is finished in a very attractive shade of deep blue, which suits the car well. Its black leather interior is smartly presented, and sensibly updated with the addition of a touchscreen media unit with all the modern phone connectivity you’d expect. Apart from this, the car appears to be entirely original and unmodified.
There is a sizeable collection of paperwork and servicing invoices accompanying the car. It has clearly been the recipient of some significant servicing, with big-ticket items such as the IMS bearing, rear-main oil seal, and clutch all having been replaced with original or upgraded parts.
So if you’re looking for a nigh-on 300 horsepower, all-wheel drive 911 then this particular car has a lot to offer.
