Overview
Although 100bhp may not seem like a lot by today’s standards, when you put this in a car which only weighs 868 kg you get the kind of direct and responsive driving experience we all dream of. Morgan managed this in a model which first rolled off the production line of their picturesque Malvern factory back in 1936. And back then it only managed a mere 34 bhp.
The example offered here was built in 1992 and features a 1.6-litre, fuel-injected, four-cylinder Ford engine. It was the first iteration of the 4/4 to be fitted with a five-speed gearbox. The distinctive low profile of the car is enhanced by its sweeping wings and long running boards, hand-crafted from aluminium. A leather interior was specified when the first owner ordered the car, along with a smart walnut-veneered dashboard.
There is a good collection of paperwork to go with this Morgan, including the original bill of sale, which itemises details such as the chrome door handles, and leather bonnet strap. The MOT record shows that it has only been driven a few miles per year in recent times, and won’t need to be tested again until April 2026.
Finished in a flamboyant shade of Corsa Red, the body remains in good overall condition. Distinctively ‘Morgan’ features include triple windscreen wipers, bonnet louvres, rear luggage rack, and plenty of chrome trim. It’s the kind of car which just begs to be driven with a trusty leather suitcase strapped to the back and your scarf fluttering in the breeze.

Summary
Although it’s not seen much action in recent years, this Morgan deserves to be driven and enjoyed: its ample performance and airy driving position allow you to hang an elbow over the top of the door and dash through the countryside. And the fuel-injected engine will burble away happily under the long bonnet while you grapple with the wooden steering wheel and work your way through the gears. For many, it’s bliss!
