Overview
Growing up in the 90s or 00s, you were either team Impreza, or team Evo. As a child of this era, the likelihood is you were exposed to the likes of the Evo through games such as Gran Turismo or Colin McRae Rally, with the Evo in particular stamped into this writer’s mind, having been drawn in by the bold shapes of the Evo, its massive rear wing, and the iconic red-and-white livery - a situation we’re sure is the same for many petrolheads of the millennium era.
To this day, the Evo VI TME is, for many, the absolute pinnacle of road-going Evos and this particular example must be one of the best out there.
The Evo VI TME (though it is also referred to occasionally as the Evolution 6.5) was built to commemorate Tommi Makinen’s extraordinary WRC success and was far more than a model-exclusive colour and some stickers. The blob-shaped front fog lights were ditched in favour of an aggressive front bumper, the ride height was lowered by 10mm and the arches filled with a set of gorgeous Enkei wheels. In the engine bay, power remained unchanged at 280bhp, though a titanium turbine in the turbocharger helped get things moving a little faster, whilst a front strut brace was also fitted. Inside, the red-and-black Recaro seats gained TME branding. This example is finished in Satellite Silver, with the requisite TME edition decals contrasting nicely against the bodywork, without being so in-your-face as the TME Passion Red models.
Purchased by the current owner in January 2018, shortly after it first arrived on UK shores, the car has been kept in his dry garage since and has covered only 397 kms (246 miles) since 2021. The car has been serviced annually despite not being driven, all carried out by the local Mitsubishi approved service agent, who also carried out the MOT tests.
Additional work was carried out in May 2019 by a performance car specialist in Hull, Autologic, which included replacing the cam belt, tensioner, idler, water pump & pulley, full engine service and brake fluid change.
Whilst used sparingly in the current ownership, the car has received a full front and rear suspension refresh (purely for aesthetic reasons) including sourcing OE rear shock absorbers from Japan, which as any Evo enthusiast knows, are like hen’s teeth. Both the front and rear Brembo calipers have been professionally refurbished, the underside has been given a coat of underseal, and all four brake discs and pads have been replaced.
Crucially, this is a wonderfully original example - helped by the owner’s borderline-obsessive desire to keep things factory-fresh - with the only noted upgrade being a ‘quiet’ HKS SS Hiper Evo stainless steel exhaust system in place of the OE unit.
The current owner was invited by Mitsubishi Motors UK to take part, along with other iconic Mitsubishi models, on their 50th anniversary tour in September 2024.
If you’re in the market for an Evo VI TME, this is the one you’ve been waiting for.

Summary
The phrase ‘time warp’ is bandied around a lot these days, but this example is worthy of the title. We reckon you’d be hard-pushed to find an Evo VI TME in closer to showroom condition, with the benefit of such fastidious and detail-oriented ownership as this one.
Offered for sale in exemplary condition throughout, it’s up to the next owner as to whether they continue to preserve this time capsule as-is, or whether they make the most of the opportunity to buy a virtually showroom-fresh Evo VI TME as they always dreamed of and head off into the sunset behind the wheel. Whatever you choose to do, this is an opportunity not to be missed.
