Overview
If there were ever two names to instantly evoke feelings of love and admiration in the hearts and minds of petrolheads the world over then the dynamic duo of the legendary Ford Mustang and inimitable Carroll Shelby must certainly be up there with the best of the best.
The Ford Mustang was, and still is, one of the most famous cars of all time. Period. Add legendary racing driver and car designer Carroll Shelby into the mix and you're guaranteed greatness. Case in point? The Shelby Mustang. Ooof.
Debuting in 1965 the Shelby Mustang was a high performance version of Ford's standard pony car. Built by Shelby's outfit Shelby American - who had already proved its worth with the AC Cobra - the first Shelby 350GTs were fully intended for the race track and fitted with modified 4.7-litre Windsor V8 engine that produced over 300bhp, immediately immortalising them in the annals of automotive history.
Shelby Mustangs, including the larger engined GT500, would continue to be produced until Carroll Shelby ended his agreement with Ford in late '69 but the model would be resurrected in 2006, much to the delight of car fans across the globe and the iconic Shelbys would continue to cater to those who wanted a little more oomph from their Mustangs before being retired once more in 2022.
The car we have available for your bidding pleasure is a 2016, third-generation Shelby GT350, which means a 5.2-litre, 526bhp V8, which alone is worth the price of admission. And yes, it does sound as mean as it looks, as the video will attest.
A six-speed manual transmission sees all of that power to the rear wheels in a car that's covered less than 20,000kms, and for those of you who sat at the back during maths class, doodling into your diaries, that's just over 12,000miles. Which is nothing. At all.
Suitably flashy (come on now, it has to be, it's a 526bhp Shelby Mustang!) if you're into turning heads then this GT350 is certainly a neck snapper because not only does it look the business with its striking yellow and black paint job, but it also has scissor doors!

Summary
This is everything a burly yank tank should be. Ostentatious, loud and blisteringly fast. It's simply glorious. But that's not to say this is a stripped out traffic light dragster. Far from it. These modern Shelbys are comfortable, they ride well and go where they're told. Ford took everything it learned about the Mustang and crammed it all into one beautifully brash package.
This is a statement car. But it's a statement car that backs up its bark with a rather impressive bite. So, if you want to be seen, heard and indeed remembered, then this is most definitely one for you.
