Overview
There's a reason why the Porsche 911 has endured for over 60 years. Not only was it an incredibly well-designed car from the get go, but Porsche have never sat on their laurels, choosing instead to continually adapt and improve their flagship model as times, technology and indeed tastes have changed. Somehow though, the boffins in Stuttgart have also managed to maintain the car's original DNA and design language throughout its bloodline, which when you think about it, is quite the feat.
But while some iterations of the 911 can be, how shall we say, difficult to live with day to day, there are certain variants, like the 991 for instance, that can very easily slot into “cool daily” territory. A large part of what makes the 991 so usable is its size. When it arrived in 2011 it was the largest 911 yet and that translated into comfort, cabin space and four seats.
Thanks to its transaxle gearbox layout and a bunch of new tech, including Dynamic Chassis Control, the 991 was also incredibly well balanced and still handles like an absolute dream. Porsche didn't skimp on power either, offering a choice of naturally-aspirated flat-six engines – a 3.4-litre and a 3.8, with the latter (featured in the Carrera S) producing the best part of 400bhp.
Porsche would tweak the car and produce an updated, face-lifted version – the 991.2 – in 2015. Featuring a host of styling tweaks, as well as all new 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged flat-six engines, the second-gen cars received hikes in power all round, with the base Carrera, for example, jumping from 350 to 370bhp.
And that is exactly what we have available here: a low mileage 2016 Porsche 911 991.2 Carrera with service history. And doesn't she look stunning in crisp white over dark red leather? In great condition inside and out, and with no mechanical issues to report, it's a wonderful example of one of the best and most usable 911s to ever play the game. Complete with that aforementioned twin-turbo 3.0-litre flat six mated to a seven-speed PDK, dual clutch flappy paddle gearbox, it makes a strong case for itself as an incredible all-rounder.

Summary
With more than enough performance for most and an inherent usability it's difficult to fault the 991 Carrera. Yes you can go full send and buy a GT3 RS but that's a car you'll only be able to drive every now and again. The beauty of the Carrera is you could daily it if you so choose, and you should.
In great condition and with good history and low mileage (but not so low that you'd be afraid to drive the thing) there's a lot to like here and for us this 991 is a tempting proposition for those that want a Porsche they can actually use and enjoy.
