Overview

Back in early 2013 — when this particular car was just a twinkle in the milkman’s eye — PistonHeads sent a chap called Chris Harris to go for a drive in a brand new Cayman S and report back. He set off with a healthy dose of journalistic scepticism, but he came back convinced. ‘The 3.4-litre motor is perfect for this car: torquey enough for the road and, if you must, to sustain some pretty wild slides on the circuit.’

So he clearly enjoyed driving it, but what of its styling? Harris described it as being ‘clothed in a way that will make people want one just to look at it.’ Another big tick then. Further gushing enthusiasm was poured over the handling, with its PASM dampers allowing low-speed suppleness, and much unabashed mention of chassis stiffness.

This particular Cayman is resplendent in its bright white paintwork, which shows off the car’s deeply sculpted body very well. It’s hard to believe that this car is over ten years old, it looks so at-home on the road. In fact, you could be forgiven for thinking this particular Cayman is much newer, as it’s only been driven a few thousand miles a year.

The seller tells us that they have used this Porsche as a weekend car, with it staying nicely tucked up with a trickle charger during the week. Therefore it hardly has any sign of wear to the leather-upholstered interior, or to the paintwork. So if you’re looking for a smart example of a very capable two-door coupe, then here’s the car for you.

Summary

Clearly the Cayman S was well regarded by journalists when new, with its extremely stiff chassis, clever suspension, powerful engine, and devilishly good looks. And this particular car, finished in an angelic shade of white, remains extremely desirable today. Luckily for you, it’s just a bid away from being yours.
