Overview
If we were to chuck the following words and phrases at you we're pretty sure you'd know exactly what we meant; box of frogs, hatter, March hare. Yep, you get it. Well, you can add the X-Bow to that particular list of idioms because this utterly mad sports car from Austrian company KTM is, how shall we say, a little unhinged. But in the best way possible.
Historically known for its impressive motorcycle output, KTM decided it would dip its toes into the rather choppy waters of ultra-light sports car manufacturing back in 2008, and frankly we're glad it did because the KTM X-Bow is truly awesome. Utterly striking to look at and with a transversely-mounted Audi 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 237bhp strapped to it, it didn't just arrive on the scene, it exploded! Figuratively that is.
Built around a carbon fibre tub the X-Bow is far from heavy and as such is capable of hitting 62mph from parked in under 4 seconds and 100mph in under 9. Impressive figures then. Yes you can drive it on the road should you wish but the track is the X-Bow's spiritual home and where you will want to be spending most of your time should you place the winning bid on this particular 2009 model.
But, this isn't your standard X-Bow, not that the X-Bow could ever be described as such in any capacity. This car benefits from the ABT performance package and over £30k of optional factory extras. Renowned and approved German tuning company ABT Sportsline have modified the already hugely capable machine with a plethora of upgrades, pushing that aforementioned power figure to 300bhp. Not only that but it's also equipped with all three aerodynamic packages from the factory alongside other carbon fibre options.
Suffice to say this is a properly sorted example with many choice improvements making it an absolute weapon for anyone who's looking for the ultimate thrill.
