Overview
Re-enactment is nothing new. Go to any country fair on a summer’s weekend and you’ll find grown adults jousting in chain mail, World War Two Jeeps packed with people in GI uniforms and tents where mead and cloudy beer are served warmer than the ambient temperature, no matter how sultry the conditions.
Why? Because nostalgia is a deeply powerful drug, and those of us who appreciate history often love the things that give a nod to it.
That’s why the Nissan 350Z exists. From 1969, for 30 years, the Japanese firm’s line of Z Cars shone a halo over a brand that, otherwise, was better known for Micras and Bluebirds. Superb, tough, reliable cars – but nobody gets misty eyed about a minicab or a curry delivery. Unless, of course, it was a truly banging curry or a great night out.
But we digress. Where nostalgia does drive car enthusiasts wild is when a true legend returns to the fray, and when Nissan decided to bring Zed back from the dead in 2003, it once again created a car with a waiting list – just like the 240Z had when it first appeared over five decades ago.
Using the brand’s new 3.5-litre V6 engine, developed with sister-brand Renault for the oddball VelSatis luxury saloon, the 350Z had much in common with its great, great grandparent. Six cylinders, rear-wheel-drive, a tendency to wag its tail if provoked and sleek coupé styling meant it was much more than a retro-pastiche; a trend that was dominating car design at the time.
It was a powerful and well-sorted GT, and one that appealed deeply to the PlayStation generation – and also to their parents.
If you want a modern classic that oozes old-school appeal, then a 350Z is a masterful choice. And if you want a really nice one, then you’ve just found it – a delightful, unmodified car with just 36,400 miles on the clock, and presented in stunning condition. It’s well worth jousting over.

Summary
There’s bound to be a lot of interest in this car, so it’s time to get your chain mail on and fight for the honour of owning it.
After all, what’s not to like about an old-school, rear-drive GT with a great chassis, a punchy, normally aspirated V6 petrol engine with smooth, eager performance and a slick six-speed manual gearbox?
Cars like this are a dying breed, especially those that are genuine, original and unmodified, and it’ll be left to re-enactors to enjoy them in years to come. This one is a bona-fide modern classic.
