Overview
Here at PistonHeads, we’re strong believers in the principle of driving a car to the track, lapping all day and then driving that same car back home. However, these cars - designed to be comfortable enough to use on the road, but with track upgrades - are almost always a game of compromise.
For those looking for a no-holds-barred approach to track days, racing or entering championships, there is no substitute for a thoroughbred, purpose-built racing machine, which is exactly what we have here in the form of a Spire GT-3.
It is worth making reference to Spire’s history here - this is no run-of-the-mill kit car built in a shed. Spire has a proven competition history dating back to 2011, with the GT-3 having been designed in 2010 and winning on its first outing in 2011, and continuous development ever since. This development has evidently paid dividends, as the GT-3 has racked up 10 class and overall championships in the 750mc 1000 class, including winning 40 consecutive races and setting a new lap record at each circuit visited.
Purchased by our vendor as a chassis from Spire Sports Cars in 2012 and completed in 2015, this Spire GT-3 has been used exclusively on track days, covering around 2,000 miles with no reported damage or accident history.
Boasting a number of upgrades including flat-shift, a dynojet ECU, customisable instrument display and more, this is a serious bit of kit for the track day enthusiast or seasoned racer alike, with the added benefit of being eligible for 750 Motor Club championship rounds.
One particular point of note is that the seller built this Spire GT-3 with plans to have an IVA test carried out, which would allow it to be used on the road once approved. Whilst the exam has not yet been carried out, we’re told that it has been built with the correct parts needed for IVA approval, meaning that you really could have a race car for the road with a few administrative hoops to jump through. Imagine that on a Sunday drive!
