Overview

Before 'that' rebrand, Jaguar's iconic motto for decades was "grace, space, pace" and we can think of few cars from its oeuvre more fitting for such a scintillating sobriquet as the XFR-S.

The XF, of which the R-S is a derivative, was unveiled in 2007 as Jaguar's modern take on the executive luxury sports saloon and was offered in numerous levels of trim and with various engines, but it wasn't until the XFR arrived in 2009 that things got particularly spicy.

Here was a high-performance version of said saloon equipped with a 5.0-litre supercharged AJ-V8 Gen III engine rated at just over 500bhp, harking back to the powerful and agile Jags of years gone by. It was, by all intents and purposes, a spectacular car but Jaguar wasn't content to sit just on its laurels. Instead, it further developed the car, culminating in the XFR-S in 2012.

In a bid to produce the fastest, most powerful and agile Jaguar sports saloon, the XFR-S was further tuned to provide 550bhp, giving it a 0-60mph time of just 4.4 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 186mph. Suspension was also revised and featured stiffer springs as well as some trick corner recognition and intelligent torque management for the eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox.

The result is an incredibly fast super saloon with bags of grip and a soundtrack to die for. Yes it was possible to replace the car's rear wing with a smaller lip spoiler but would you really want to? This particular 2014 car is a great, usable example that comes complete with full main dealer service history. 

Well-maintained throughout its life and cherished by its current owner it presents well throughout and has the added bonus of a sports exhaust to really let that supercharged V8 sing!

Interior

• The black and grey leather interior with red stitching is wearing well

• The vendor informs us that everything works as it should

• The headlining, carpets and door cards are in good shape

• There is some general wear and tear and a few marks here and there commensurate with the car's age and mileage

• Some creases to the driver's seat leather

• There is a small scratch to the passenger side dashboard

• The vendor states that the rear cigarette lighter is missing

• The boot space is in good condition and the spare wheel and factory tools appear to be present and correct

• The engine bay presents honestly, if a little dusty

Exterior

• The paintwork looks to be in great condition with only a few minor blemishes to note

• There does not appear to be any major corrosion to either the bodywork or underneath

• All body panels look straight and have uniform gaps

• All glasswork remains free from damage

• The front carbon splitter has a small area of damage that is covered with tape 

• There is a small surface scratch and pimple by the offside rear door and some small marks to the offside wing mirror

• The vendor informs us that they acquired the original new polished wheels and Pirelli P Zero tyres eight months ago but the wheels do carry some slight curb marks

• The underside looks to be in great condition with no signs of damage aside from some slight scuffing to the under tray

Summary

With exhilarating performance, four-door practicality and amazing suspension providing a smooth ride and great handling the Jaguar XFR-S delivers all the thrills of a sports car with the everyday usability and comfort of a luxury saloon. Complete with that all-important comprehensive service history it's a lot of car for the money and that Akrapovic exhaust makes the supercharged V8 sound like thunder!
