Overview
A handsome family wagon with Polestar upgrades, five-second 0-60 potential and manually adjustable Ohlins dampers; these days, it’s hard to imagine the V60 Polestar existing at all, but somehow Volvo and Polestar managed to sneak 750 of these 3.0-litre super wagons past the Swedish bean counters back in 2015, and the world is a better place for it.
Yes, the likes of BMW and Audi are arguably king of the ‘fast wagon’ genre, but for those that want to be different without being too shouty about it, or love nothing more than driving a fast ‘under the radar’ car, we can think of few cars that better fit the bill than this V60 Polestar.
Based upon the standard V60 AWD chassis, Polestar carried out over 80 upgrades, changes and improvements to make the car you see before you, the headline upgrade of which is the adjustable Ohlins suspension, though the V60 also featured a carbon strut brace, upgraded six-pot brakes and far, far more.
Rarity is also an important part of the V60 Polestars’ appeal - of the 750 built, only 125 were delivered to the UK. To quote the Smith and Sniff podcast (hello gents!) you really will have trouble ‘finding another’ on UK roads, and this one in particular is an ‘exquisite example of the marque!’
Available in a quartet of colours, Rebel Blue (also referred to as Cyan Blue in some circles) is the pick of the bunch, and we have what may well be the best example in the UK on offer here today.
First registered in 2015, this two-owner V60 Polestar was purchased by our seller from Volvo Selekt in January 2018, and has been lightly fettled and upgraded during his ownership with a number of considerate modifications.
Now boasting a smidge over 400bhp and 670nm of torque, this is a seriously quick family hauler that most passers-by wouldn’t bat an eyelid at, save for perhaps admiring the lovely shade of blue that it's finished in.
There’s a saying that you buy a car based on its owner as much as the condition of the car itself, and it seems both boxes are firmly ticked here. As soon as the car was purchased from Volvo, the owner had full front-end PPF applied to preserve its immaculate condition, and has kept up the full Volvo main dealer service history ever since with a no-expense spared approach, including extending the Volvo warranty throughout his ownership; even the correct VOL-marked Michelin tyres are used!
Now, having covered around 32,000 miles in his ownership, during which time the car has been reportedly SORN over the winter months and driven only in the dry to preserve its condition, the choice has been made to part ways with this much-loved V60, offering you the chance to purchase what must surely be the best in the country…
