Overview

TVR - you love them or you hate them. Chances are, given that you’re on PistonHeads, and even moreso given that you’ve landed on this auction listing, you’re probably in the ‘love’ camp.

That also means that this TVR needs no introduction. With styling that made the boffins at Area 51 perk up and barely a straight line to be found, the Tuscan Speed Six stopped just about everything and everyone in their tracks when unveiled in 1999, and was to be the final production car from Blackpool’s finest. 

Boasting a bespoke, in-house straight six engine that somehow made what was typically a smooth configuration sound like it was summoning Beelzebub himself, the Tuscan is a machine that demands your full attention, devoid as it is of nannying drivers aids like ABS or TCS. 

This particular example was first registered in 2003 and has been in the care of our vendor since 2005. Finished in striking Nebula Blue with enough metal flake to attract every magpie in a five-mile radius when the sun hits it, this is a TVR exactly as it should be - bold, brash, and boisterous. 

During the seller’s long-term ownership, this Tuscan has been serviced annually save for one or two years, and looked after by a number of marque specialists, most recently TVR 101 of Bentley, Surrey. Freshly serviced and with a cleaned chassis that showed no concerns (not to mention a blemish-free MoT until June 2026) this Tuscan is ready to turn heads with a new owner, and is only being ‘let go’ by its current custodian due to age - of the seller, that is, not the vehicle!

Interior

• Grey leather / blue carpet interior in good overall condition

• The high-traffic areas such as the steering wheel, door cards and centre console sides exhibit the usual signs of wear-and-tear

• We note some areas of the leather covering coming unstuck around the steering column

• Sony stereo unit with USB and Bluetooth connectivity

• New carpets fitted in Jun 2021

• The leather on the seat backs / rear seat clams is beginning to crack with age, most notably on the driver’s seat, and there is an area of loose stitching on the passenger seat base

• The suede/ Alcantara door cards are UV faded with age

• Looking closely, the leather on the upper nearside door card is beginning to sag

• No reported faults or electrical issues

Exterior

• Eye-catching Nebula Blue paintwork with outstanding metallic flake visible in the sunlight

• No reported accident damage or history

• The removable targa roof panel looks to be in good condition, save for a few larger chips on the nearside front corner

• Around the vehicle, there are a few large stone chips to be found, along with the usual light smattering of minor blemishes expected of a 22-year-old performance car

• The rear windscreen glass is scratched on both the lower nearside and lower offside corners

• On the offside rear quarter, there are some unusual blemishes in the paintwork that are most visible in direct light

• The seller notes that paint protection film (PPF) has been employed around the vehicle to prevent any further stone chips

• There is a crack in the fibreglass on the nosecone

• The PPF is peeling away on the lower nearside corner

• We note a couple of deeper scratches on the roll-over B pillar, and a large scuff on the lower nearside rear corner, along with the usual scuffs around the targa roof panel aperture

• All four wheels are in exceptional condition having been recently refurbished, wearing the correct TVR-marked Toyo tyres 

• In all, an it's a lovely eye-catching example of the Tuscan Speed Six that wears a few typical usage marks, along with one or two larger blemishes, but the overall look remains mesmerising

Mechanical

• 3,605cc straight-six ‘Speed Six’ engine, producing 350bhp and 286lb-ft of torque

• Five-speed manual gearbox, sending power to the rear wheels

• The engine shows 21psi of idle oil pressure at a water temperature of 82 degrees and an oil temperature of 65 degrees celsius

• No reported modifications from factory specification

• The chassis has been recently cleaned, with no issues noted by TVR 101

• Excellent history and recently serviced including a valve clearance adjustment

• Reportedly in excellent mechanical order

Summary

With its striking blue paintwork, outlandish design, bizarre interior controls, and a guttural exhaust note, the Tuscan Speed Six is everything that a TVR should be, all wrapped up in an otherworldly bodyshell.
