Overview
Volvo are far from strangers when it comes to producing understated yet devastatingly quick cars. You just have to look at the 850 T-5R and later 850 R to know what we mean and this DNA can be found in the company's more modern offerings, like the V60 Polestar.
Much like the 850 estate (the image of Rickard Rydell going full send in his iconic blue and white Securicor touring car will forever be indelibly etched into the collective automotive consciousness) the V60 Polestar takes the underpinnings of a large family wagon and turns everything up to 11, perfectly blending practicality with performance.
Debuting in 2010 the V60 would receive a “bit of a tweak” three years later with the introduction of the special, limited edition V60 Polestar that was a spiritual successor to the 850 R estate, further propagating that car's lunatic legacy. With a re-tuned engine delivering 350bhp the suspension was also overhauled and upgraded with Ohlins adjustable dampers and new sway bars as well as bigger, Brembo six-piston calipers, amongst other improvements.
Polestar has been collaborating with Volvo and its racing programme since 1996 and that motorsport heritage is abundantly obvious here. The T6 3.0-litre straight-six engine features a larger Borg Warner twin-scroll turbo and a 13mm thicker intercooler providing beautifully linear power delivery through all four wheels for a rather impressive 0-60mph time of about five seconds.
Imported from Japan (a kinder environment where the roads are not salted) in 2024, this 2014 Volvo V60 Polestar comes with good service history and has been further enhanced with an ECU remap to even out power delivery and increase overall fuel economy (now reportedly 50mpg at 70mph) and efficiency, including a carbon clean.
Professionally converted and fully UK registered the car has recently been serviced and comes to market in stunning condition throughout and is reportedly running perfectly.

The vendor informs us that the car starts perfectly every time, sounds incredible in Sport mode with the exhaust valves open but quiet when closed and it feels and drives like a luxury tourer, going on to say that it's calm when it wants to be but brutally fast and with the large Brembo brakes it stops better than it goes
-
No mechanical issues to report
Summary
Although famed for its wagons, Volvo sadly doesn't make any long boys nowadays, instead deciding to concentrate on the more lucrative SUV market, and that's truly a sad story. Gone are the days of revered and respected performance wagons like this awesome V60 Polestar and the aforementioned 850 R so grab this limited production model now and relive those glory days of sleeper estates!
