Overview

The phrase ‘two car garage’ is bandied around a lot here on PistonHeads, but what about if you have space for just one car? Step forward the full-fat Range Rover. 

Granted, the headline performance figures might not set your heart racing, but given the mighty bulk of the Range Rover, the pace (and more importantly, the refinement) in which it picks up speed is nothing short of impressive, and you’ll likely forget all about outright performance, as you’ll be busy soaking up the opulence of the cabin and its luxurious styling. 

This is a car that can make even a trip to the shops feel like a special occasion, and make any driver feel like royalty; how many other vehicles can do that with such ease?

This particular L405-era Range Rover boasts the desirable SDV8 engine, and a host of Overfinch upgrades from new, including an impressively refined carbon exterior package, bespoke interior and a set of 23” Overfinch wheels, all of which looks right at home on this full-fat Range Rover. 

In the care of the current owner since December 2022, it has covered around 10,000 miles in the care of our vendor, during which time the full main dealer service history has been maintained, and the car has been used for mostly long-distance trips to London and even abroad to Italy, meaning it has proven itself to be a dependable and effortless long-distance workhorse, exactly what a Range Rover should be.

• Both front seats are in great shape, with some light ‘bunching’ noted to the bases, and a few small abrasions noted to the outer bolster and rear face of the driver’s seat

• In the rear, the seats look to be almost unused, and the fold-down armrest provides additional storage

• The Overfinch mats are in great shape, and the driver’s mat is protected by an aftermarket rubber mat when in use

• Up above, the panoramic roof is in full working order

• In the rear, the capacious luggage space is clean and tidy, with the split tailgate operating as it should

• Looking closer, we note a scratch to the Piano Black trim on the driver’s door card, and what appears to be a water mark to the outer edge of the driver’s seat back

• Other than the above, this luxuriously appointed cabin looks to be in excellent condition, with no reported electrical faults or issues

Exterior

• Storm (Carpathian) grey exterior with Overfinch modifications

• This L405-era Range Rover has an undeniable road presence, without the often-outlandish nature of some aftermarket tuning packages

• Looking closer, there are a few light abrasions noted to the nearside carbon mirror cap, light scratches to the nearside A-pillar, some stone chips to the front end, and a touched-in area of damage on the nearside front door edge

• The lower edge of the front bumper is protected with PPF

• All four wheels are in near-pristine condition with no noted kerb rash or large blemishes

• No reported accident or impact damage

• Overall, a cherished and incredibly well-kept example of the L405 Range Rover with additional Overfinch upgrades

Mechanical

• 4,367cc turbocharged V8 diesel engine producing 335bhp and 516lb-ft of torque

• 8-speed automatic gearbox, sending power to all four wheels

• The seller reports that the brake discs and pads all-round have been changed in his ownership

• Any known issues or quirks were dealt with as soon as noted - the owner tells us that he is ‘fastidious’ about his ownership and needs to rely on his vehicles, therefore this Range Rover wants for nothing

• No modifications beyond the Overfinch specification upgrades

Summary

The car to end all cars, the Range Rover really can do it all. Yes, in Overfinch trim with those large 23” wheels, you may not want to explore the full extent of the Range Rover’s off-road credentials, but being realistic, how often would that come into consideration? (And even then, you could pop some smaller wheels on if you really wanted to explore the green lanes). 

As presented, this is a cross-country cruiser par excellence, and one of only a handful of modified Range Rovers cars that we’ve seen that retains the tasteful ethos of the original styling. We'll be very jealous of its new owner.
