Overview
Porsche's sixth generation 911 is arguably one of the most practical and easier to live with day-to-day iterations of its iconic sports car that money can buy. Introduced in 2004 the 997 looked great, was incredibly engaging to drive and had enough technical refinements to keep things more than comfortable. All attributes that remain as welcome today as they did upon its release. And with the addition of the fully retractable glass Targa roof and entire back window being the only in 911 history to lift open as a hatchback at the touch of an exclusive third button on the key fob - this is surely the most practical of the 997 iteration
The 997's practicality didn't come at the expense of performance though. Far from it. With a 3.6-litre flat-six offered in the Carrera, Carrera 4 and Targa 4, peak power was a very respectable and eminently usable 321bhp which meant a 0-60mph time of around five seconds and a top speed of 174mph. Chuck in a six-speed manual gearbox and it's an all but perfect set up, engagement wise.
Handsome and really rather roomy as far as 911s go the 997 Targa 4 makes a lot of sense and with that previously mentioned four-wheel drive system to help keep things in check when conditions get a little slippery (or when ego outruns ability) it's a lot of fun out on the road. Open top motoring doesn't get much better.
This low mileage 2007 Porsche 911 997 Targa 4 then has a lot to offer. Beautifully presented and in excellent condition throughout the car comes complete with impressive Porsche main dealer and specialist history with documented services from 2009 all the way to 2025. A fresh MOT and recent £10K service further evidence a particularly well-maintained car.
With an improved soundtrack from the glorious Porsche switchable sports exhausts it also features switchable suspension and Porsche's Chrono pack. Being a 2007 model means a larger, improved IMS bearing too for increased peace of mind.
