Overview
The Mazda MX-5, as good as it is, really does lend itself to being modified and upgraded. From the original back in '89 to today's latest models the mighty Mazda has perennially presented itself as a lightweight and beautifully balanced car that really is the perfect base from which to start if you're craving a little extra oomph from your affordable two-seater sports car. And BBR GTi (to give them their full name) are an authority when it comes to tuning Mazdas who can furnish your pocket rocket with a little more thrust courtesy of one of their off the shelf kits. In the case of this 2012 NC generation Kuro edition example, the kick in the guts comes from their Stage One turbo upgrade which, given its effect on the performance stats - 0-60mph in 5.1 seconds and an electronically limited 150mph top speed - is an excellent addition if you ask us.
Professionally fitted in October 2024 the turbo conversion kit consists of a bespoke Garrett GT series ball bearing turbocharger, cast iron exhaust manifold and stainless steel downpipe, high-flow lightweight front mounted aluminium intercooler, high-flow custom silicone turbo pipes, and myriad other supporting mods all fully designed and developed in-house at BBR GTi and manufactured in the UK to significantly improve stock performance. Not only that but this car has also been enhanced by BBR Pro Sport suspension coilovers, uprated discs and pads and a stage one organic clutch, all to the tune of almost £10K.
Suffice to say this is one well-sorted MX-5 with a dyno printout showing a proven 265bhp and 214lb ft of torque. Perfect for fast road use or track day shenanigans then. This car is in excellent condition throughout and also comes complete with an extensive service and maintenance history as well as a long MOT. If you're after a usable but better than stock example then look no further.

Summary
Not only is this Mazda MX-5 one of only a few hundred Kuro edition roadster coupes sold in the UK but it has also been professionally and tastefully enhanced in not only the performance stakes but also in the way that it drives thanks to the BBR GTi turbo conversion combined with the suspension and brake upgrades.
What we have here then is a well-maintained NC generation MX-5 that sits proudly head and shoulders above the pack whilst also being really rather exclusive to boot. What's not to like?
