Overview
Aston Martin is such an evocative brand. It's a name that not only conjures up images of fine tailored suits, trips to the French Riviera and effortless, elegant style (in no small part due to the Secret Service shenanigans of a certain fictional double-O agent), but also of rip-roaring performance and multiple motorsport victories in a dashing display of duality that many other manufacturers simply cannot match.
From the early, exquisite DB series cars to more modern fare like the Vanquish, Aston Martin has consistently delivered. There's even a crossover SUV now, highlighting the company's desire to adapt to the changing times and tastes of an industry that it has always been at the forefront of. And as for the aforementioned motorsport involvement, Aston Martin made a welcome return to Formula One in 2021, hoping to add to its numerous accolades which includes victories at the legendary Le Mans 24 Hour.
It's an impressive and well-respected legacy that makes Aston Martin one of the most esteemed car makers in the world, and should you wish to get involved then you could do a lot worse than this rather lovely 2013 Aston Martin V8 Vantage S.
Unveiled in 2003 as a concept car, the production Vantage arrived two years later as a coupe, closely followed by a convertible roadster. Both cars initially featured a 380bhp, 4.3-litre quad-cam V8 which was later updated to a 4.7-litre version with 420bhp in 2008 as part of an overall update for the model that also included suspension and gearbox enhancements as well as a handful of styling tweaks. A further update arrived in 2011 in the form of the V8 Vantage S, a lighter offering with an extra 10bhp from modifications to the 4.7 V8 which meant a 0 to 60mph time of 4.5 seconds and a top speed of 189mph. Suspension was also stiffened and a Sportshift II seven-speed automated manual gearbox was an option.
This particular roadster, being the S variant, features the later, more powerful V8 and comes complete with full Aston Martin service history. Looking suitably menacing in its black on black colourway, the car presents in superb condition throughout and has clearly been meticulously maintained over the years but a move abroad forces sale.
It's a low mileage car that is reportedly driving perfectly. The seller is gutted that the expense of taking it abroad prevents him from sensibly taking it with him but we’re sure that it will find an equally appreciative next owner here in the UK.

Summary
As far as hand-built, V8-powered convertible roadsters go the Aston Martin V8 Vantage S is about as good as it gets for many a discerning petrolhead. With suave, dashingly handsome looks masking its brutally powerful underpinnings it's very much comparable to the previously mentioned secret agent and it's an incredibly alluring proposition. Fastidiously maintained, in superb shape and with low miles it's a bit of a no-brainer don't you think?
