Overview
October 2008. Lehman Brothers had just collapsed, Barack Obama was about to make history, and somewhere in Lancashire, a brand new MX-5 Niseko was being collected from Perrys Mazda with just four miles showing. Sixteen years on, that same car has covered just 13,000 miles. That's roughly 750 miles per year – a mileage figure that genuinely requires a double-take.
The NC-generation MX-5 continued Mazda's iconic roadster formula. The Niseko special edition – named after the famous Japanese ski resort – added a layer of sophistication with heated brown leather seats, climate control, and distinctive badging that set it apart from standard models.
What makes this particular example so compelling isn't simply the odometer reading – it's what that number represents. This is a car that escaped the daily grind that claimed so many of its siblings. The interior leather still retains its factory matte finish rather than the polished sheen that comes with regular use. The steering wheel remains supple. The seats show minimal wear. Open the door and you're stepping into something remarkably close to a 2008 showroom experience.
The paperwork tells its own story. Year after year, this car returned to the same Perrys Mazda dealership that sold it new – regardless of whether it had covered 500 miles or 1,500. The original owner even specified genuine Mazda accessories within weeks of collection: a polished fuel filler lid, alloy foot rest, and wind deflector. All documented. All still present.
Finished in Sunlight Silver Metallic over that distinctive Cocoa Brown leather, it's a colour combination that photographs beautifully and wears its years with remarkable grace. For the collector seeking preservation-grade originality, or the enthusiast who simply missed out first time around, this Niseko offers something increasingly rare in the MX-5 market.

Summary
Main dealer stamps from the supplying dealer. Interior leather that still feels like it did when new. This Niseko represents something genuinely rare: a chance to experience an NC MX-5 in the condition its original owner intended to preserve.
For those who missed out on buying one new in 2008, this is as close as you'll get without access to a time machine. Probably an unrepeatable opportunity for the discerning enthusiast.
