Overview

Designed to take the fight to Porsche and the 911, the Lotus Evora came about at a tumultuous time for the Hethel-based sports car manufacturer, and as such, never quite lived up to its initial production expectations of 2,000 units per year, nor could it quite match the Porsche for outright power figures, but with its typical Lotus move of prioritising chassis feel, capability and driver engagement, it became a hit with brand loyalists, and remains a strong choice for those looking for a 2+2 sports car to this day.

Unlike many other Lotus models, there is also a generally accepted notion that the engines used in the Evora - sourced from Toyota - are virtually bulletproof, and as such, the Evora is regarded as the best Lotus to buy for those looking for a dependable sports car that shouldn’t give them too many headaches. The engine - tuned specifically by Lotus to produce 280bhp - was also highly praised for its snappy response and character at the time of launch, and in today’s world of detached motoring, soft throttle responses and brake-by-wire, the rawness of the Evora is a welcome palette cleanser.

This example is an early 2010-built car, and benefits from an attractive colour combination and recent in-depth service in November 2025, including brake/clutch fluid change, a new clutch master cylinder and replacement of the auxiliary V-belt.

  • There are some typical scuffs and blemishes to the door sill areas and the lower door cards

  • The switchgear shows some light patination from use

  • Upgraded Pioneer stereo unit with smartphone mirroring

  • Both rear seats look to have been rarely used, and present in excellent shape

  • The carpet below the offside rear seat squab has come away from the body and is hanging free

  • Up above, the headlining looks to be taut throughout and free of any heavy staining

  • No reported faults or issues

Exterior

  • This 2010 Lotus Evora presents very well overall, thanks to a combination of low mileage covered and careful ownership

  • Both front lights appear to suffer from moisture ingress

  • The front end shows a few stone chips as we’d expect to see, and there are one or two others dotted around the exposed edges of the car (such as around the rear air intakes, for example)

  • There also looks to be some rubber staining the the rear of the rear arches

  • Looking closely, there are some small scuffs on the side sills, around the door aperture areas

  • The mirror mounting arms are discoloured

  • At the rear, both exhaust tips show a typical level of wear and chipping

  • We note that the offside rear wheel is kerbed, and the nearside front wheel has an area of paint damage

  • Pirelli P-Zero tyres (front) and Hankook Ventus V12 Evo (rear)

Mechanical

  • 3.5-litre Toyota-sourced 2GR-FE V6 engine, mounted transversely and producing 280bhp thanks to a Lotus-specific tune

  • Six-speed manual gearbox

  • Rear-wheel drive

  • No modifications from factory spec

  • The engine bay looks to be tidy from what we can see, though the cam cover is starting to show its age now

  • No reported mechanical issues

Summary

Widely regarded as one of the ‘safest’ Lotus models you could buy from an ownership standpoint thanks to its rugged mechanicals, the Evora has earned itself a strong following amongst enthusiasts and still draws plenty of attention to this day, whether its used as a weekend toy, track day weapon or as a performance (and surprisingly practical) daily driver.

This example benefits from extensive rear works, and appears to want for nothing other than a set of new tyres to address the recent MoT advisory note.
