Overview

Every kit car begins as an idea. A stack of boxes, a bare chassis, and someone with the conviction to turn it all into something real. Most of those ideas remain half-formed, gathering dust in garages across the country. This one didn't.

The Westfield car company established its name with Lotus Seven-inspired models, and by the early 1990s the SEiW wide-body variant had arrived, delivering greater cockpit and engine-bay room within the same minimalist footprint. Every SEiW features a lightweight spaceframe, double-wishbone suspension all round, front disc brakes and rack-and-pinion steering, and the wide body's additional accommodation makes it a genuinely usable proposition for regular road use. Engine choice spans everything from the naturally aspirated 2.0-litre Duratec, featuring a dual overhead cam design in an inline configuration, through to motorcycle powerplants and V8s, but the Duratec occupies a sweet spot: regarded as reliable and durable, its all-aluminium construction keeps weight honest whilst responding handsomely to performance enhancing modifications.
