Overview
Every kit car begins as an idea. A stack of boxes, a bare chassis, and someone with the conviction to turn it all into something real. Most of those ideas remain half-formed, gathering dust in garages across the country. This one didn't.
The Westfield car company established its name with Lotus Seven-inspired models, and by the early 1990s the SEiW wide-body variant had arrived, delivering greater cockpit and engine-bay room within the same minimalist footprint. Every SEiW features a lightweight spaceframe, double-wishbone suspension all round, front disc brakes and rack-and-pinion steering, and the wide body's additional accommodation makes it a genuinely usable proposition for regular road use. Engine choice spans everything from the naturally aspirated 2.0-litre Duratec, featuring a dual overhead cam design in an inline configuration, through to motorcycle powerplants and V8s, but the Duratec occupies a sweet spot: regarded as reliable and durable, its all-aluminium construction keeps weight honest whilst responding handsomely to performance enhancing modifications.
This particular SEiW tells a different story to most kit cars you'll find for sale. It's the work of one person, built from the ground up to a clear, cohesive vision: to be as lightweight as possible but still road usable, rather than a fully stripped-out track build. It was SVA/IVA certified in August 2008 and road-registered the following month. In the 17 years since, it's covered approximately 5,000 miles. Not a trailer queen. Not a garage ornament. Just a car that's been enjoyed on its owner's terms.
And what terms they are. The 2.0-litre Duratec breathes through DCOE-style Jenvey individual throttle bodies with red anodised finish, a genuinely desirable upgrade that sharpens throttle response and delivers that trademark induction bark. The cockpit centres around a carbon fibre dashboard by CarbonMods and a digital instrument cluster behind a Mountney steering wheel, with black vinyl bucket seats wearing Westfield-branded four-point harnesses and a fire extinguisher mounted in the passenger footwell. Braking is handled by vented discs at all four corners with Wilwood four-piston calipers and drilled and grooved discs up front and braided stainless steel lines throughout. Coilover suspension with performance dampers add to a specification that reads like a builder's wish list, because that's exactly what it is.
Finished in gloss black with carbon fibre rear cycle wings, it shines up well and looks suitably purposeful. Truth be told, the owner never thought he would part company with it. But life moves on and so this is your opportunity to write the next chapter in the history of this enticing sports car.

Summary
Every kit car on the market is someone's vision. But how often do you find one where the builder got it right first time, passed the IVA, registered it, drove it, and kept it? Where the Jenvey throttle bodies, the Wilwood brakes, the carbon fibre dashboard and the Westfield harnesses all tell one coherent story rather than a patchwork of previous owners' conflicting tastes?
This SEiW is that car. Approximately 5,000 miles, zero former keepers, and a specification sheet that makes sense from top to bottom. It’s a road-legal, IVA-certified Westfield with a well-regarded Duratec heart, ready for its next chapter. B roads, track days, club meets will all be there for your enjoyment.
