Overview
Taking the goldmine that was the Boxster platform and reverting to a more conventional front-end appearance was another stroke of genius from Porsche, and the 987-generation Boxster was an unsurprising hit with both driving enthusiasts and casual Porsche owners alike. This was much more than a facelift, however, with Porsche reporting that the 987 was 80% new compared to its predecessor underneath.
Evidently, they got the recipe perfect (to quote Goldilocks and the three bears, it’s not too hot, not too cold… it was just right) as if you look out on the road today, you’re sure to see plenty of 987 Boxsters (and its stablemate, the Cayman) in day-to-day traffic and at marque events alike.
This particular example is a 2.7-litre, 5-speed example that has been in the care of the current owner since 2009, and has covered under 31,000 miles from new. In other words, it is an increasingly rare proposition indeed, as enthusiasts and casual drivers alike are becoming wise to the near-perfect blend of analogue driving and creature comforts offered by the 9X7 platform.
Mercifully standard and un-modified, this Boxster even retains its smaller-diameter 17-inch wheels, which we’d suggest are a lot better-suited for the current state of UK roads than modern-era 20-inch-plus offerings, though that’s another conversation entirely…
If you’re looking for some summer fun that is genuinely usable all-year round, then we can think of few better prospects than a Boxster. Good luck, and happy bidding.

Summary
Benefitting from long-term ownership and having covered under 31,000 miles from new, this is an increasingly rare opportunity to obtain a low-mileage, low-owner 987 Boxster. With these cars now getting more and more recognition amongst enthusiasts thanks to blending an analogue driving experience with modern convenience, we can think of few better ways to enjoy (what we hope to be! a beautiful summer on the horizon.
