Overview
Subaru did most of the heavy lifting when Toyota came calling for a lightweight, rear-wheel-drive coupe. The results, the BRZ and its GT86 twin, arrived in 2012 aimed squarely at keen drivers. Subaru's FA20 2.0-litre naturally-aspirated boxer engine sat 12cm lower and 24cm further back in its chassis than the unit in an Impreza, and with 200 bhp delivered at 7,000 rpm through a six-speed manual to the rear wheels alone, this was a car that demanded to be worked hard but rewarded handsomely for the effort. The deliberate fitment of Michelin Primacy tyres set grip levels lower than comparable coupes, making the chassis accessible and explorable at sensible speeds on British B-roads.
So much for the model. This top-spec 2014 SE LUX is something of a time capsule, showing just 32,542 miles from new. That's fewer than 3,000 miles a year, which is backed up by the paperwork.
The SE LUX specification brings Alcantara-trimmed sports seats with red contrast stitching throughout, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, satellite navigation and front parking sensors. Inside, the Alcantara centre panels and leather bolsters show only light wear to the driver's seat bolster consistent with the mileage.
In the interests of full transparency, there is one item to note: the dual-zone climate control blows cold on the driver's side but warm on the passenger side. An authorised Subaru dealer diagnosed this in February 2026 as requiring a new heater box, quoting £2,731.30 including parts and labour. An indie may do it cheaper, or you could find a passenger with a different thermostat - that’s what those split tog duvets are for, right?
Anyway, apart from that, the vendor reports that the BRZ starts without hesitation and drives as it should with precise steering, good brakes and no unusual sounds. And with accessible front-engined, rear drive coupes now looking increasingly close to extinction, there might never be a better time to experience one.

Summary
Thirty-two thousand miles in eleven years really isn’t much and, in SE LUX trim, this sports coupe brings the toys that you’d want to daily it.
True, there is a heater box fault, but we reckon that it would be worth shopping around to get a better quote to address it. With that done, and maybe a service to refresh the other fluids, you get a rear-wheel-drive sports car with a willing boxer engine, a six-speed manual and a fresh MOT that’s ready for its next keeper to discover what all the fuss was about.
