Overview
Are you Steve Soper? No, probably not (but if you are: hi Steve, big fans of your work fella). The chances are that you’ve never driven an E30 M3 touring car then. Which is a shame, as they’re wonderful things.
What makes them so great, we hear some of you ask. Well, as the majority of PHers can probably tell you, the E30 M3 is one of the greatest racecars of all time. It won everything there was to win in its class, and is still a brilliantly well-balanced and riotously capable machine, almost 40 years after its BTCC/WTCC/DTM heyday.
Of course, this isn’t an actual touring car from back in the day, then we’d be talking F1 driver money. But this is a rather excellently finished and superbly maintained replica of the 1987 Warsteiner liveried M3 touring car. With its legendarily rev-hungry 2.3-litre ‘S14’ 4-cylinder and that lithe chassis, it was always a great thing to drive – dropping it to the deck on Bilstein dampers and pulling a couple of hundred kilos of weight out of it has only made it more punchy. And more angry. And generally just ‘more’. Which is a good thing.
Meticulously maintained by Munich Legends, with thousands of pounds in maintenance and servicing over the years, this is a racecar you could probably (with some ear plugs) drive to work and the shops every day. Yes, you heard us correctly, this sucker is road legal, with a long MOT and impeccable history. That’d give the Qashqai drivers a scare.
Presented in fine overall condition, riding on a set of classic 17-inch BBS Super RS multi-piece wheels, there’s so much to love here that we’re not sure where to look first. To say it would make the perfect addition to any enthusiast’s garage would be to state the blindingly obvious.
Just imagine popping to the Co-op for a bag of spuds in this. A 50-mile detour would surely be inevitable…

Summary
It’s a road legal touring car! So yes, you can look like Steve Soper, but on the A38. (Obviously please drive responsibly and obey the rules of the road, Birmingham is not Brands Hatch, etc. etc.).
There’s not many cars that could happily take you to a car show or track day and excel in both arenas, but this is definitely one of them. We love the fact that this has been kept road legal, because on a glorious sunny day, we can’t think of many better cars to attack a B-road with.
With a fabulous service and maintenance record and the ever-increasing rarity of solid E30s, we can;t help but feel that this one won’t be hanging around for very long.
