Overview

We all know how good a V8-powered BMW can be. You just have to look at the sublime E39 M5 to understand what we mean, so when the boffins in Bavaria decided to stick one in the fourth-generation M3 there was much rejoicing and it remains the only production M3 to feature such a powerplant. Add in a convertible roof, as is the case with the E93 like this particular example, and things get even more appealing because let's face it, drop-top M3s will never not be alluring. 

Debuting in 2007, the E90/92/93 M3 was available as a saloon, coupe and convertible respectively and featured the aforementioned V8 that produced a rather significant 414bhp. Initially only available with a six-speed manual gearbox, BMW introduced its venerated seven-speed dual clutch automatic into the line-up in 2008.

But as special as the M3 is, and always will be, those seeking a little more exclusivity from their performance 3 Series would have their desires sated by the release of the Limited Edition 500 model. With only 500 produced across both coupe and convertible body styles (hence the name), these rare beasts could be had in one of three exterior colours alongside BMW’s high-gloss Shadowline exterior trim and 19” high-gloss black lightweight alloy wheels. Interiors were trimmed in extended Novillo leather with contrasting stitching and featured £4,000 worth of additional equipment alongside a laser cut designation showing the car as one of the 500 models.

This 2013 example, resplendent in its Mineral White exterior paintwork, presents beautifully across the board and has clearly been meticulously maintained by the current vendor who informs us the car is stored indoors with a fitted indoor cover. Complete with an excellent service history the car has wanted for nothing in recent years with the vendor reporting that the bodywork has been ceramic coated following the correction of all paint defects. The throttle actuators and rod bearings have also been replaced and a new battery and alternator fitted, as well as a full convertible roof service in September last year.
