Overview

Bentleys have always possessed that special something. That je ne sais quoi that's seemingly unquantifiable but that's felt as soon as you ease behind the wheel, and the Continental Flying Spur is no different. Officially the fastest production four-door upon its release back in 2005 the Bentley Flying Spur still has presence in spades and with its 552bhp, 6.0-litre twin-turbocharged W12 engine it certainly has the performance to match. Chuck in four-wheel drive and adaptive air suspension with damping control for impressive levels of traction and control and the car can certainly hold its own when pushed.

But it's that beautiful W12 that's the star of the show and the Continental Flying Spur is at its best when the road opens up and you can fully exploit the car's gargantuan straight line performance. Make no mistake though, the Flying Spur – in typical Bentley form – is still the epitome of luxury and feels incredibly special to this day, which is exactly what you want from such an esteemed brand.

A big seller for Bentley the car would enjoy a further two generations (dropping the Continental nomenclature in 2013 with the arrival of the second iteration) and is still being made today, such is its popularity, but it's the original first-gen models that arguably make the most sense in the second hand market with this particular early example being a prime representation of the marque.

Presenting in excellent overall condition the car has clearly been well-maintained and comes with a stack of paperwork as well as main dealer and specialist service history and a recent MOT pass. It's a low mileage example having covered just over 40K and is reportedly driving as it should with no known mechanical issues.

Summary

Composed on the road and imposing without being too shouty about it the original Bentley Continental Flying Spur remains a truly excellent piece of engineering that can still ferry its occupants about in supreme comfort really rather rapidly. This particular car retains all of the charm and character inherent in such a venerated vehicle thanks to the fact it has been so well looked after all these years so if you're after a low mileage modern classic Bentley then you should seriously consider this fine example.
