Overview

Now bare with us because Rolls-Royce naming conventions can get a little overwhelming, especially when it comes to anything Silver. With Clouds, Wraiths, Seraphs and Shadows, to mention but a few, it's perfectly understandable to become somewhat confused. All excellent cars in their own right, granted, but there are certain models that especially stand out for one reason or another and one such example is the Silver Dawn, which was a special edition of the Silver Spur, but not the original model from 1949, the Mark III from the '90s, which was a long-wheelbase version of the Silver Spirit. See what we mean? 

Being a derivative of the Silver Spur III then the Silver Dawn, produced between 1995 and 1998, is a four-door, full size luxury saloon featuring a 6.75-litre OHV V8 engine mated to a four-speed automatic gearbox for that revered Rolls-Royce buttery smooth performance. With fully independent suspension, adaptive ride control, power steering and ABS-assisted four-wheel disc brakes the car was available with as many options as you could shake a stick at and could be customised to your heart's content care of RR's bespoke services.

An incredibly rare beast, only 237 were ever built – with just 87 being UK supplied right-hand drive examples – making this Rolls-Royce Silver Dawn one of the most exclusive models of recent years. An incredibly low mileage and low owner car it comes to market in fine condition and remains wholly original with the exception of a main dealer speedometer replacement in 2002. Not only that but the car was optioned from the factory with the desirable Springfield interior trim, a limited edition feature commemorating the 75th anniversary of Rolls-Royce manufacturing at Springfield, Massachusetts.

Complete with main dealer and specialist service history, as well as recent servicing by marque specialists Bowling Ryan the car has evidently been well cared for and presents as a wonderful and fully-loaded example of an especially exclusive slice of exquisite British automotive finery.

Exterior

• The car's bodywork presents very well across all panels

• Red Pearl over Silica paintwork with Silica fine lines remains in excellent shape with no significant marks or blemishes to report 

• No evidence of any damage or corrosion

• All shut lines appear to be straight

• All brightwork, including the grille, is in fine fettle with no apparent pitting

• Spirit of Ecstasy present and correct

• Windows and light lenses present well and are free from any issues

• Black bumper trim has not faded but there is a small scuff to the offside rear corner

• The original 16” wheels look to be in great shape with no evidence of any major damage but both rears do carry some light marks to their rims 

• Avon CR227 tyres with white stripes fitted at all four corners

• The underneath is clean and appears to be in fine condition overall

Mechanical

• 6.75-litre OHV naturally-aspirated V8 engine

Summary

They don't come much more exclusive than this incredibly limited production Rolls-Royce Silver Dawn and you would be hard pressed to find such a rare car in as superb original condition and with such limited mileage as this. It's a car that still very much makes a statement and is guaranteed to turn heads, such is the legacy Rolls-Royce has curated over the years and it remains a wonderful example of a truly special car.
