Overview

The Mk1 Audi TT remains one of those rare production cars that arrived looking virtually identical to its concept. The range was available with 180 bhp and 225 bhp 1.8-litre turbocharged engines, as well as a 3.2-litre V6. But it was the closing chapter that produced something genuinely special.

In 2005, Audi released the coupe-only Quattro Sport. Just 1,168 were produced, with 800 of them in right-hand drive. The model was assembled by Audi's performance division in Neckarsulm, Germany, and consequently it's the only Mk1 TT to carry the WUA chassis prefix, shared with Audi's RS models. The Quattro Sport received a larger turbocharger, revised intake, uprated cooling, a high-flow exhaust, and a weight reduction of 75 kg to 1,390 kg. The spare wheel, rear parcel shelf, rear seats and standard air conditioning were all deleted.

In the cabin, fixed-back Recaro Pole Position bucket seats and an Alcantara-trimmed steering wheel were installed. The model also featured unique 18-inch 15-spoke alloy wheels, wider at the rear, V6 bumpers, and a distinctive two-tone paint scheme. The results were something quite special and with 237 bhp at 5,700 rpm and 236 lb ft of torque from 2,300 rpm, all channelled through a six-speed manual gearbox and quattro all-wheel drive, it had the go to match the show.

This particular Quattro Sport has been in single ownership from new since September 2005, making over 20 years of unbroken custodianship. The vendor tells us they've retained all original documentation, the stamped service book, invoices and both keys, along with the original CD and tape cassette player and original floor mats. In a world where modified examples are the norm, this car remains close to factory specification, with only a mild ECU adjustment.

Finished in Misano Red Pearl with the Quattro Sport's signature Phantom Black Pearl roof, pillars, mirror housings and rear spoiler, it's one of the most visually striking colour combinations available on the QS. Inside, every Quattro Sport-specific detail is present and correct.

The car has had a comprehensive programme of maintenance during 2024 using genuine Audi parts, including a cambelt kit with water pump, camshaft cover gasket, front lower suspension arms and brake pipes from front to rear. A new radio and CD player were also installed in 2024. The car also has a mild ECU adjustment which the vendor describes as a 5 to 15 per cent increase in bhp. We're told the car starts well and provides a great driving experience.

This is a car that's spent its entire life with one keeper, been maintained with genuine parts, and remains close to the specification in which it left the factory over two decades ago. That combination of provenance, originality and careful stewardship is increasingly difficult to find. If you’re after a mk1 TT, then this one has a huge amount to recommend it.

History and documentation

  • First registered 8th September 2005

  • In current ownership since new, with all original documentation, stamped service book, invoices and both keys retained

  • A comprehensive history includes the original stamped book and a substantial file of supporting invoices

  • Vendor-disclosed minor accident in 2015 resulting in a replacement bonnet, front grille and one headlight, with all information available

  • The vendor advises that extensive 2024 maintenance was carried out using genuine Audi parts: cambelt kit with water pump, camshaft cover gasket, front lower suspension arms, nearside inner rack gaiter, brake pipes front to rear, welding repair to exhaust and sleeve, wiring repair to brake fluid level sensor and new radio/CD player

  • Hankook Ventus S1 evo3 tyres fitted all round, which the vendor states were new in September 2024

  • Battery replaced December 2022

  • Rear axle bushes cleaned with rust prevention treatment, October 2024, per the vendor

  • Mild ECU adjustment described by the vendor as a 5 to 15 per cent increase in bhp; sadly the paperwork has gone astray

  • Original CD and tape cassette player and original floor mats retained alongside the car

  • MOT with no advisories valid until 7th October 2026

Interior

  • The cabin retains all Quattro Sport-specific features, with fixed-back Recaro Pole Position bucket seats trimmed in black leather and Alcantara, their outer shells finished in body-coloured red to match the Misano Red exterior

  • Alcantara-trimmed steering wheel shows visible smoothing and wear around the upper rim and side grips from 20 years of use

  • Suede-effect gear knob displays light surface smoothing, with the shift pattern remaining clear and legible

  • Driver's seat Alcantara centre section shows mild shading and flattening on the base cushion consistent with age

  • TT-branded aluminium dashboard trim, circular vents, satin silver switchgear and climate controls all present cleanly with legible markings

  • Factory Bose sound system fitted, confirmed by branded speaker grilles on the door cards

  • Aluminium sports pedals are in place, and a replacement radio/CD player was installed in 2024 (original supplied)

  • Black headlining appears intact and taut with no obvious sagging

  • Rear compartment retains the Quattro Sport cross brace, elastic luggage net and mesh load net, all in place with clean side trim

  • The seller advises that the first aid cubby has lost a clip and doesn't always stay shut, a common mk1 TT issue
  • Water can appear on the door sills (though not inside the car) - another common issue with these cars
  • Replacement floor mats with red piping are fitted; originals have been kept

  • The vendor tells us everything works; overall the interior presents well for a car that's been used and enjoyed over two decades

Exterior

  • Finished in Misano Red Pearl with the Quattro Sport's signature Phantom Black Pearl roof, pillars, mirror housings and rear spoiler

  • The vendor describes the exterior as in good overall condition, with a few small road stone chips and minor wear to the driver's door handle

  • Red paintwork presents with a strong gloss across the flanks, and the panel fit around the tailgate, doors and bumpers appears even and well-aligned

  • Both headlamp lenses show age-related hazing and clouding; the seller notes that the driver's side headlight was replaced some time ago with a Bosch unit

  • The seller advises that the windscreen wipers have been replaced with Bosch items
  • Driver's door handle has a visible paint chip exposing a dark underlayer near the lock barrel; the passenger side handle appears clean

  • Scattered small stone chips are present along the lower front bumper lip and bonnet leading edge

  • Light scuffing is visible on the lower rear bumper corner

  • Shut lines around the rear quarters, bumper corners and door edges appear straight and even

  • Unique 18-inch 15-spoke alloy wheels appear free from obvious kerb damage in the photographs, with red brake calipers visible behind

  • Hankook Ventus S1 evo3 tyres fitted all round, which the vendor states were new in September 2024, showing good tread depth

  • Underside floorpan and sill areas have been treated with a heavy protective underseal coating, which appears broadly intact

  • Exhaust system shows a welding repair to the silencer area and a sleeve clamp on the centre section, both disclosed by the vendor, with age-related surface corrosion visible on exposed pipework

  • Front lower plastic undertray is present and largely intact

  • Overall the exterior presents honestly for a car of this age, with the two-tone Misano Red and Phantom Black combination looking particularly striking

Mechanical

  • 1,781cc four-cylinder turbocharged engine producing 237 bhp at 5,700 rpm and 236 lb ft of torque from 2,300 rpm

  • Six-speed manual gearbox with quattro all-wheel drive

  • 0-62 mph time of 5.9 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph

  • Mild ECU adjustment fitted, described by the vendor as a 5 to 15 per cent increase in bhp

  • The vendor states the cambelt kit with water pump was renewed in 2024 using genuine Audi parts

  • The vendor advises that front lower suspension arms and nearside inner rack gaiter were replaced in 2024 with genuine Audi parts

  • Brake pipes reportedly renewed front to rear in October 2024

  • Camshaft cover gasket reportedly replaced in 2024

  • Wiring repair to the brake fluid level sensor reportedly completed in 2024

  • Engine bay presents cleanly, with the Audi 5V Turbo engine cover, airbox and trim panels all in place; the front upper strut brace (a Quattro Sport detail) is fitted

  • The vendor tells us the car starts well and provides a great driving experience

  • We're told there are no known mechanical faults, and the vendor isn't aware of anything requiring attention

Summary

In addition to being a very special edition, twenty years of single ownership from new surely sets this Misano Red Quattro Sport apart. Remaining close to the specification in which it left the factory, it still looks great and has clearly been well looked after.

While there’s some age-appropriate wear to the Alcantara and a few stone chips that confirm this car's been driven and enjoyed over two decades, we doubt you’ll find many that are in this condition and with such low mileage.
