Overview
The Porsche Boxster S is a fantastic car, of any generation and at (almost) any price point, but one thing the standard Boxster doesn’t have on its side is rarity; look around you in any seaside town on a hot day or in a well-to-do area, and you’re almost guaranteed to spot a Boxster (or its stablemate, the Cayman) in no time at all.
So what is a Porsche enthusiast to do if they, like many others, love the mid-engined, roof-down Boxster platform, but like a few extra points when playing pub Top Trumps? Step forward the RS60 Spyder.
Produced by Porsche to celebrate the Sebring-winning 1960 Porsche 718 RS60 Spyder, the 987.1 Boxster of the same name is limited to just 1,960 units all finished in iconic GT Silver Metallic, and features a slight bump in power to 303bhp, along with model-specific features such as a wider track, 19” wheels, redesigned front spoiler, red rear lights, a black windscreen surround, and several Porsche options as standard equipment including a switchable sports exhaust, PSM and PASM.
This particular RS60 is chassis 0976 and notably features the optional black leather interior, which is arguably less controversial than the standard RS60 red interior, and also boasts upgraded audio, heated seats, park assist, auto air conditioning, LED fog lamps and a Porsche vehicle tracker system. If you want rarity and a great driving experience, then look no further.

Summary
Limited-run, heritage-inspired and finished in arguably the best silver from Porsche’s catalogue of historic colours, the RS60 Spyder has a lot going for it, and this example only adds to this thanks to a range of tasteful upgrades, and the far more conventional-looking black interior/hood option box having been ticked at the factory.
Specialist maintained in recent years (following OPC maintenance from new) and evidently cherished throughout its lifetime, this rare variant of the hallowed Boxster platform is sure to put a smile on the face of any Porsche enthusiast, whether you’re a driver that will enjoy the extra power and noise from the RS60, or a collector that enjoys the added rarity and provenance of this limited edition example.
