Overview

The Rapide represents everything we've come to expect from Aston Martin. A culmination of decades of automotive expertise distilled into one really rather capable super saloon it was, and still is, one of the best models to ever come out of the factory at Gaydon. Utilising a similar design language to previous cars like the DB9, albeit with two extra doors, the Rapide cuts quite the dash without feeling overly ostentatious and remains a handsome machine from any angle.

Underneath those good looks beats the heart of a true performance weapon, too. Equipped with a 6.0-litre naturally-aspirated V12 producing 470bhp mated to a slick six-speed auto box, 60mph is dispatched in just five seconds and the Rapide will carry on going relentlessly until 190mph and so feels as much a high end grand tourer as it does a practical family saloon. Suitably loaded with all the modern bells and whistles one could possibly need – before things all got a bit too intrusive – the Luxe models, like this particular car, are truly special.

Featuring a host of additional equipment from the factory, including rear seat entertainment, heated and cooled front and rear seats with perforated leather and highly polished 20” wheels, amongst other things, the Aston Martin Rapide Luxe is a highly desirable and compelling alternative to the usual slew of performance saloons. Remaining refined and composed at low speeds yet coming alive when opened up it combines four-door practicality with exhilarating performance.

With especially low mileage, this high-specification example presents in superb condition throughout and has clearly been maintained regardless of cost, as evinced by its impressive history file, including a well stamped service book. Having just been fitted with four brand new tyres to boot, this remarkable Rapide is ready to roll.

• Shut lines are uniform around the entire car

• All glasswork looks to be free from damage

• No obvious signs of any major corrosion but there is some light surface rust to the rear passenger door brackets as well as what looks to be a tiny bubble by the offside wing mirror

• Chrome trims pieces present well and have not pitted

• The vendor reports that the 20” alloy wheels have recently been refurbished and as such they present beautifully although some of the centre caps are showing light signs of degradation

• Brand new Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres and TPMS sensors as reported by the vendor

• Underneath looks to be solid and free from any major damage or corrosion

Summary

Powerful, engaging, refined, practical and well-built the Aston Martin Rapide is one of the best all-rounders there is and remains one of the company's stand out tracks. A rare find in this spec and condition with such low mileage, this particular Luxe example is a peach and presents beautifully as a turn-key example that appears to want for nothing. Hand-crafted and with a naturally-aspirated V12? They just don't make 'em like this any more.
