Overview

The Honda S2000 is one of those cars that needs no introduction. A naturally aspirated 2.0-litre four-cylinder that revs to 9,000rpm, a six-speed manual gearbox, rear-wheel drive, and a kerb weight of just 1,260kg. Honda's engineers threw the rulebook out and built something that felt more like a motorcycle than a car. It's a formula that still gets people talking, and for good reason.

This Monte Carlo Blue Pearl example was first registered in July 2002 and has covered a shade under 49,000 miles since, averaging just over 2,000 miles a year. That's the sweet spot, really. Enough to keep everything working as it should, not so many that the magic's been worn away. It was Honda dealer maintained from the outset, with seven consecutive stamps at John Banks Honda in Ipswich and then it’s received regular attention from independent garages, with stacks of paperwork to show for it.

And here's the good news: it hasn't just been wrapped in cotton wool. Someone's clearly driven and enjoyed this car while also looking after the bits that matter. A handful of well-chosen upgrades add a bit more bite when you're pressing on, and the owner's clearly done their homework. It's a lovely looking example in a colour that suits the S2000's lines beautifully, and it comes to market with both the factory hardtop and soft top.

Summary

What we have here is a well-documented, low-mileage AP1 S2000 that's been both cherished and enjoyed. The combination of a gentle accumulation of miles, lots of paperwork, and enthusiast-grade upgrades where they count makes this one stand out. As presented, it's an honest, well-loved driver with the history to back it up. The hardtop alone sweetens the deal considerably but as we found out in our recent 3 way Japanese sports car test, the howl of the F20 at 9,000rpm is all the encouragement you should need to place a bid.
