Overview

Still an achingly pretty machine, it's hard to believe that Aston Martin's DB7 made its debut appearance over 30 years ago! Ageing like a fine wine, today the DB7 represents a hell of a lot of car for the money, especially when opting for the V12-equipped Vantage Volante, like this particularly lovely example.

Hailed as the car that saved the company, the DB7 was a significant model, the success of which assured Aston Martin's future and it remains an excellent used buy. Originally furnished with Jaguar's 3.2-litre supercharged AJ6 engine, a proper Aston Martin V12 joined the party in '99 and with 420bhp on tap unlocked the DB7's true calling as an effortlessly powerful grand tourer.

Offered as both a coupe and convertible, the V12 drop top is a very desirable option - a quintessential Aston experience that's the perfect cruiser for those summer jaunts to the continent. Despite being a success though, the DB7, in the grand scheme of things, was still produced in limited numbers and remains a rare car, further adding to its appeal.

This 2003 low mileage Vantage Volante has been in the same single ownership for 21 years, which should tell you all you need to know about the car's inherent desirability and it comes to market in superb condition throughout. It even still has the original Aston Martin umbrella on the boot lid! Clearly fastidiously maintained and highly cherished, facts evinced by the presence of a comprehensive specialist service history and a rather exemplary MOT record, we think that this Aston Martin DB7 Vantage Volante is a bit of a peach.

Summary

Powerful, comfortable and refined, the Aston Martin DB7 Vantage Volante is everything a good drop-top GT should be and this example looks to be a particularly fine representation of the model. With low mileage, excellent service history and presenting well across the board there's little more one could ask for from a proper V12 Aston.
