Overview
The Mk7 Golf R arrived in the UK in March 2014 packing a 300 bhp version of the EA888 engine, VW’s 4MOTION all-wheel drive and a choice of six-speed manual or DSG twin-clutch transmissions. It was, by any reasonable measure, a remarkably complete car: quick enough to embarrass things costing twice the price, composed enough for a motorway schlep, and compact enough to thread through a Surrey B-road without breaking a sweat.
The powertrain is impressively exploitable, and with optional adaptive dampers on board there's genuine everyday flexibility too. All wrapped in a five-door hatchback that could pass for a sensible family car in the school car park. Discreet talent, then.
This particular example is finished in Deep Black Pearl metallic, a shade that reveals a subtle blue fleck in direct sunlight. It presents well and is subtly modified in a way that’s not obviously visible.
The current keeper, a retired enthusiast based in Surrey, has owned it for over six years and approached the car with the kind of meticulous care that produces a folder full of invoices. A Revo Stage 1 remap was applied to both engine and DSG in 2020 by VAS Motion, complemented by Superpro performance anti-roll bars front and rear, HEL braided brake lines and a Revo panel filter.
Crucially, all original parts have been retained so there’s always the option to return it to standard if so desired, though the mods look very well considered to us. The extensive service file covers thousands spent in recent years alone keeping everything in proper order, and it’s been recently fully serviced. In all, it’s all ready to fly under the radar.

Summary
We don't say this often, but this Golf R is that rare thing: a genuinely well-sorted enthusiast's car with the paperwork to prove it. Six years of careful, knowledgeable ownership have produced a Mk7 R that's been thoughtfully enhanced, meticulously maintaine, and prepared for sale with the kind of thoroughness that speaks for itself.
The Revo Stage 1 remap, Superpro anti-roll bars and HEL braided lines transform an already capable all-rounder into something properly engaging, and the fact that every original part has been retained tells you everything about the quality of thinking behind the modifications. With a clean MOT, a comprehensive service file and thousands spent in the last two years alone, this is a car you could bid on with confidence and enjoy from day one.
