Overview

When BMW unleashed the Z4 M Coupe in 2006, it gave the world one of the most characterful sports cars of its era. A hard-topped sibling to the Z4 M Roadster, it shared Chris Bangle’s newly-introduced “flame surfacing”. Beneath that divisive bodywork sat serious hardware: the same high-revving 3.2-litre 'S54' naturally aspirated inline-six that powered the E46 M3, here producing 338bhp and sending drive to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox and factory limited-slip differential.

With 0–62mph dispatched in 5.0 seconds and a rigid coupe shell sharpening the chassis, it was a purist's machine from the outset. Built in relatively small numbers over a short production run, the Z4 M Coupe has since graduated from underappreciated oddity to genuinely sought-after modern classic.

This particular example was registered on 21st September 2007 and has covered an indicated 36,958 miles from new, with the seller noting just circa 8,000 of those miles were added in the last decade. Inside, it carries the rare and rather lovely two-tone Champagne and Black Nappa leather, lending a warmth that suits the car beautifully.

Outside, the Jet Black paintwork sets a suitably menacing tone and we're advised that the "car spent most of its life in dry storage," which would account for its condition. It was photographed directly on its removal from storage and the seller is planning to have it fully detailed before handover, which he believes will make it look almost like new.

Overall, coming from the current ownership period of ten years, it’s a well-kept example backed by a healthy service history. With no known mechanical faults reported, low mileage and that desirable S54-and-manual combination at its heart, it's a lovely example that could be used regularly or tucked away for high days and holidays.

Summary

In short, this is a low-mileage Z4 M Coupe that ticks the boxes most PHers look for in one of BMW's most collectable modern M cars. Its blend of a high-revving naturally aspirated straight-six, an immersive manual transmission and that rare two-tone Champagne interior makes for a genuinely desirable specification, and the recent oil service and new battery (April 2026) mean it's freshly recommissioned and ready to enjoy.

Backed by a comprehensive history file, HPI clear status, ULEZ compliance and an advisory-free MOT running until April 2027, this is a well-documented example that has, by the seller's account, spent "most of its life in dry storage." For the collector or driver seeking an appreciating future classic to use or simply admire, it represents a rare opportunity to acquire a properly cared-for S54 coupe.
