Overview

Let's start with the obvious: this is a Speed Yellow 996, and there aren't many of those. Fewer still wear it over Graphite Grey leather, and fewer again pair that with the wide body of the Carrera 4S. It's an arresting thing in the metal, sitting purposefully on its signature anthracite Turbo Look alloys.

The 996 was the first water-cooled 911, and the 3.6-litre Carrera 4S arrived late in its life as a greatest-hits package. You get the wide Turbo body, the Turbo's brakes and suspension set-up, a 320 bhp naturally aspirated flat-six, and that full-width rear reflector across the tail as the C4S calling card. Many regard the C4S as the sweet spot of the standard 996 range, and it's easy to see why.

Being a Tiptronic S with all-wheel drive, it's also refreshingly usable. This is a 911 for the wet Monday commute and the dry weekend B-road alike, with no drama either way. It's been with the same enthusiast since 2007 and its IMS bearing has already been upgraded, leaving you free to just drive it.

Low mileage, a rare colour and full wide-body spec: as everyday-usable flagship 996s go, this is a genuinely lovely example.
