Overview

The standard Puma was nigh-on perfect from launch in 1997, and the press rightly fell for it. Based on the humble Fiesta, it became one of the very best driver's cars of that decade. The Racing Puma took all of that and turned it up. Ford built just 500 for the UK, each finished in Imperial Blue metallic, each fitted with a Yamaha-developed 16V head, and 70mm wider track, Eibach springs, Sachs dampers and Alcon brakes. It's the only Puma to run rear discs, and it's still one of the most charismatic fast Fords of its era.

This 2000 car is exactly as a Racing Puma should be. It sits on its correct silver multi-spoke alloys, wears its genuine Ford Racing badging and flared arches, and the cabin is a proper event thanks to the blue Alcantara Sparco buckets, blue-rimmed wheel and white-faced dials. The numbered engine-bay plaque is present, and the paintwork carries the deep, glossy sheen these cars deserve.

Best of all, it's been properly sorted. Recent work covers the cambelt and water pump, a fresh clutch, new brakes and some cosmetic freshening, so this is a Racing Puma you can get in, drive and enjoy straight away. A large file of receipts backs it all up.

The result is a genuine, honest example of a fast Ford that's only becoming more sought-after, ready to be used and enjoyed just as Ford intended.
