Overview

Say what you like about the noughties, they gave us the Mk2 Focus RS, and this is one of the good ones. While many survivors have been modified over the years, this car has been kept exactly as Ford built it. It's a genuinely standard, unmodified example, and that alone makes it worth a second look in a market where original cars are increasingly hard to find.

Then there's the colour. Ultimate Green is the shade the Mk2 will always be remembered for, the one that turns a fast hatch into an event in a supermarket car park, and it suits the RS bodykit perfectly. This one wears it well, with bright, even paintwork over a straight shell and that unmistakable big-grille, twin-exhaust, roof-spoiler stance.

At the heart of it sits the 2.5-litre turbocharged five-cylinder, sending 305bhp to the front wheels alone. Ford could have taken the easy route with four-wheel drive, but instead it engineered the clever RevoKnuckle front suspension and paired it with a Quaife limited-slip differential, so the RS puts its power down with real bite and a soundtrack that no rival could match. It's fast, 0-62mph takes 5.9 seconds, yet it's every bit as usable as any other Focus when you want it to be.

What lifts this one above the crowd is how it has been kept. It has covered just under 27,000 miles from new, the engine bay presents clean and original, the underside is well protected, and there's a documented record to back it all up. This is a modern classic that's ready to be driven and enjoyed exactly as it is.

Summary

This is a rare thing, a Mk2 Focus RS that has been left standard and looked after, wearing the definitive Ultimate Green over a clean, original interior and showing just under 27,000 miles. It presents beautifully inside and out, the mechanicals are honest and unmolested, and it comes with a documented history and the fitting RS58WOW plate. Ready to be driven and enjoyed straight away, it's the sort of unrepeatable fast Ford that only gets harder to find.
